I don't mind if nobody else signs before the new season ... (1 Viewer)

... providing someone comes out and says so, as opposed to the usual smoke and mirrors of which we're now associated.

I'm long past the expectation that we have a huge budget to spend on "franchise" players or even that we can spend modestly, but we have been told that there will be clear communication from the board to the fans.

I want someone brave enough to come out and say something along the lines of, "This is our lot. We trust and back our lads because we want to ensure that Coventry City is still in existence in the long term. They will make mistakes, but they are our lads, please stick with us and give your full support"

If they do that, then I will happily stand up in a half empty Ricoh and bellow from the rooftops and give them unconditional support, but it must be heartfelt and it must be without all the associated bullsh*t that we are currently being drip-fed.

It must also be that they are not sold at the first opportunity to the first bidder who come cherry picking so that we are allowed to enjoy the benefit and not just selling the polished player. I'm not expecting that they won't want to progress or move onto bigger things but lets hold them for a few years and not have the repeat of the Scott Dann or Conor Thomas situations again.

I was thinking something along the same line Rob, but if they say that no-one else is coming in and then get someone in, I'm sure some ejit will have something to say about it.

I agree although tools like that are best ignored. Surely any signing then, however trivial would be viewed as a boost as opposed to a let-down that many will belive someone who matches our budget to be.

I actually think that although the individuals may not be Messi/Tevez/Giggs we actually have a strong squad. If the rumours are true the disruption in the camp was Boothroyd and King, both of whom are no longer in the dressing room. I think the way the squad played together as a unit at the end of last season was a positive sign that they can and will play well.

I agree with the sentiment, but I do think we need to add to the squad as it appears a bit thin. I’m realistic in what we can afford and if it is loan players then fine, but we have lost about 6 senior outfield players (including Ozzy who was injured last season and Gunnar who is all but gone).

Still a month and half of the window to go and AT has already said he's not finished doing buisness yet so we need to keep calm! Also the way AT plays is to te system not about key players! If the team playbto the system it doesn't really matter what 11 is out there as long as they are playing to the system! Yes he does need more bodies but he's knows what he is doing and I for 1 have alot of faith in him! PUSB

The frustrating thing is the lack of anything at all coming out of the Ricoh. Surely the only reason AT hasn't got any one else in yet is that their is on going discussions in regards to potential investors or buyers of the club. They have had to get in a goalkeeper, but we all new this was going to happen and he has come in for no fee just his wages. We were offering Marlon King 15k a week and if you add the wages of Gunner and Westwood that should have freed up in excess of 35k a week in wages. Surely their is enough budget their alone for one quality striker and one attacking midfielders wages?
The good thing in my opinion is we didnt waste it on the likes of Earnshaw, we need a player with his pace and eye for goal but we need someone that can develop with the squad and bring along the Duke. As good a finisher as he is he and the likes of Nugent are not the FRANCHISE player we are looking for lets hope AT has an up and coming European player who wants to be that focal point. Or at least SISU spend this weeks 35k on Euro lottery tickets.

KEEP THR FAITH BOYS.:p

Agreed spot on, lets just hope the Hoff can pull the deal off and release us from these problems

i will back the current aquad and i feel that formations/methos like thorns can sometimes make up for less quality players and carry a team but i really think we need another striker

but yeh no matter what happens i wouldnt be aiming any fury at SISU,its obvious we dont have alot of money

maybe CCFC can benefit from a siege mentality?
