I am getting the feeling fans favourite for the Sky Blue hotseat Dennis Wise will be overlooked, maybe not even interviewed. Big risk for Fisher and friends commercially. Wise would increase gates by a couple of thousand initially atleast and if he gets us anywhere near challenging that figure would rise. Most of the others are not the ideal choice in a lot of fans eyes some far from it, so an iffy run or he gets off to a bad start as boss gates will plummet and quick.

The fans wanted Adams as manager and then most wanted him gone. Thorn would not have been chosen without the backing of supporters. I suspect the clamour for wise is not huge. Whoever is chosen will increase attendances only if games are won.

The only manager who swelled the gates on his own presence was Atkinson. Wise is no Atkinson in terms of presence and many will be concerned if he is appointed.

Wise would increase gates initially, but if results don't improve, people will stay away.

I hope SISU pick the man, even if he isn't popular because when all said and done, whoever is manager, as long as they get results and we do well, they will come.

Picking Wise might be the fans #1, but he might not be the RIGHT choice.

I personally think he is definately think he could be a good choice BUT I'm 50/50 with all candidates but I'll give 100% support.

It'd be interesting to run a new poll on who the fans want as CCFC manager. It wouldn't be surprising at all if Wise's popularity has significantly decreased.

I imagine he gets over looked quite often.

I'd choose Wise because of the discipline/mentality he would bring to the team. We always seem to underperform and we need someone that will address that. Hopefully he would do that and if not someone that could offer the same. Any manager that gets results will increase the attendances in the short term…..i would hope the interview process is looking at someone who presents that motivating/demanding players to give it their all in every game will improve consistency, get the fans backing, receive less shite in the phone ins/press/forums and in itself steadily increase the attendance, this is the foundation we should be looking at

Come back with this thread when you know he has been interviewed or its a waste of everyones time.

Massive hatred of Brown from the forum - not sure most of them even know why; just jumping on the bandwagon like sheep.

Get him or Wise in.

if one assumes that F & W are doing the interviews, then surely one has to ask,
on what level of credibility do F & W have the ability to do this ?
further to which let the fans know how, & on what basis they have made their decision(s),
i'm sure the appropriate doubletalk & spin will be put out,
they'll have to get the ok from 'joy' 1st though,
will c &w anesthotise the fans forum,

What credibility do fans have to choose the manager and make decisions on the club.

After all, most fans believe we should spend money to get out of L1 and the Championship, money we don't have, which would leave more financially fucked. JS.

According to Waggott, it's him, Fisher, and fatty Clarke who are on the 'selection panel'. Waggott being the only one who has any football background to him whatsoever-does anyone trust these 3 to make the correct decision?

Nope that's my biggest fear and it's all going to be down to the opinion of Waggot and I'm really nervous about that

I loved Wise as a player, loved the fact he was pint sized yet had more bite then most, loved him when he played for us. Have him has manager? Not a chance. Yes hes had some management experience but not a lot. We need someone whos got BAGS of it. Not potentially, not a quality ex player. We need someone with experience and guile to get us out of this league - the dogged way.

I'm sure Waggott and Fisher are no worse than most selection panels at clubs throughout the football league. Given their close proximity to the players at Ryton, one may even say they are better-placed to find the right fit as manager.

Completely disagree! Boothroyds record prior to his arrival here was pretty impressive, plenty of experience in getting teams up or in the play off places, but failed miserably. What I am fed up with seeing is successive Cov teams feeling sorry for themselves, bottling it when the going gets tough, thus I think that can be remedied with a nasty, uncompromising Bastard at the helm and I think Dennis is the type of man who can imbue the players with that us against the world mentality.

Didn't Boothroyd have that exact reputation?

How many managers are like that these days?

He had a reputation for route 1 tactics, not necessarily for a siege mentality in his players.

A YouTube video was doing the rounds when Boothroyd was appointed. He was being interviewed on television when he suddenly turned and yelled at a player for not training or something. Many gleefully said that he was the 'hairdryer' the club needed.

We only have to use common sense here. Shouting means nothing if you don't have the respect of the players. If a manager has that, the players will likely not want to disappoint him; if a manager doesn't have respect, then all a bollocking will likely do is create sulking and resentment. There has to be more to a manager than two-dimensional stereotypes.

I thought that Boothroyd was know to be a bit of a disciplinarian? I am sure he had the players in training on a Sunday as well to analyse the previous game?

"Professional footballers should be professional. They have a responsibility to come in, listen and learn, watch their performances, analyse where they went wrong and improve. Not to come in, have a five-a-side, bugger off and play golf. I get quite passionate because I was that person. I was a mercenary who went from club to club on a free transfer and, really, that's not how football should be. "
Aidy Boothroyd
