Offer Coventry Speedway use of the Ricoh, turn it into a speedway track, along with Stock Car racing

It would be interesting to see what SISU do then.

Well, if it helps out ACL then we should go for it.

Putting my love for ccfc aside for one moment I can see the sense in that. Plus grendull would be happy as would mean that the bee's definitely represent Coventry as I know he had some concerns about that.

They should put a couple of Curling lanes in the middle, and take advantage of the momentum of the 2 medals we won, sure to be a winner

You don't love CCFC tony - you just see it as a cash cow for you comrades in the council.

Lets make it happen. Given the councils hatred and contempt for sporting clubs in Coventry I'm sure ACL can so a deal that will bankrupt them in what - 12 months.

Whose paying for the redevelopment - surely not the taxpayer?

"We" can't do anything about it because it's not "our" stadium - it's ACL's to do what they want with it. Personally I hope they properly shaft Sisu by knocking it down for housing. All of a sudden we won't see Sisu for dust, their bluff well and truly called. It will also give two fingers to everyone who used to moan on about how they disliked the Ricoh.

Responding the comments on the now closed "lowest point" thread Torch, my support for CCFC is not unconditional. Many people love their country but don't support it e.g. people who marched against Iraq or benefit cuts. There's nothing inconsistent with the emerging consensus :Coventry City; love the team hate the club" - or at least its' owners.

I am not sure I could see this happening for several reasons..

If this happened would whoever bought the Brandon site have "unfettered" freehold on the site? They'd surely be grateful to ACL for that.

Yes, that's great, and screw the fans over in the process.

I think you mean it would be interesting what Coventry City would do then. But who cares, eh?

Do we know who has brought the Brandon site yet or has it still not been announced?

Coventry City don't play there anymore so it won't affect them.

True. A nice £100m ornament.

Curling seems to be the only sport in the Winter Olympics? At least every time I've switched on that is what is on!

You may as well watch people doing housework!

At least we would have a proper reason for playing in Northampton other than making faceless investors lots of money.

That's the spirit. I'm sure the 95% of people in Coventry who have never been are more than happy to pay for it to remain empty. OK, so it's not being used, but at least it's it's our empty £119M arena.

That'll show 'em.

The rise in council tax will pay for its upkeep.

At least it remains property of the Coventry taxpayer and not some mickey mouse Cayman Island tax dodger.

Tell you what. Bookmark this page and I bet you in one, two, five or ten years time our next owners will be or will be backed by "faceless investors". You're constantly droning on about what a betting man you are, so what do you reckon? What are the chances?

What are the dimensions of a speedway track, would it fit in the pitch area without having to move any seats or people being sat miles from the track?

It's not a terrible idea really. ACL can't just sit around waiting for SISU to get their act together. If the speedway needs a new home and it's logistically possible then why not?

Not had your pills G?

What sort of cash cow has given no milk whatsoever in its lifetime?

Glad you're not a farmer.

And will they still be making awful business decisions to the detriment to the long term health of the club while lining their pockets?

As you know that was actually his point.

Yes. If it was only a football stadium that's what we'd be faced with. Luckily on planet Earth the Ricoh is a multiuse facility.

Fucking hell, you used to be a fairly rational poster.

The Ricoh belongs to the tax payers/ people of Coventry and can't be sold surely ! The council don't have the right to sell it. Long term lease 100 years. Surrounding land should be sold to Ccfc for developement with profits going into the club this should be the way forward and get our team back in the city where it belongs . Enough is Enough !!!!

The chances are lower than you seem to think.

There will either be nothing left for speculators make money on as SISU would have had the Ricoh for themselves or another lot will know that SISU have already had everything accessible of value.

Me droning on? I mention when there are big odds to be had that are value. If you had followed them you would be up a lot. Paid out again a couple of games ago at 33/1. Has paid out nearly 10 times this season lowest odds 25/1. Worthwhile even if I say so myself. Whereas you chat shite.

The last time I posted on here you were stating a true fact that you knew. It was that our club had paid for the land that the Ricoh is built on and got nothing for it. This was proved to be wrong. You then stated that our club paid for the decontamination of the Ricoh site and got nothing for it. I informed you that you were wrong again. Then you were shown the truth. You then went quiet. But guess what? The very next day you made the very same statements again knowing them to be false. I then got blamed for taking the thread off topic when all I did was point out that you were being untruthful again.

I don't care that you go to Northampton. But there is no need to try and make up excuses for SISU all the time. There is no need to try and blame the council for everything you can. Most of us know the truth. What we do need is for all of us to come together whilst we still have a club to support.

I don't know what the dimensions are but fc Copenhagen and the millennium stadium Are used for the speedway grand Prix series. The first few rows are netted off because of the flying grit. but can anyone think of a reason not to use the Ricoh temporarily or permanently? I thinks its a good idea myself
