Was thinking about this for a bit of nostalgia.
Anybody know anything about it?

Does it have to be in the cabinet?

Looking at it, it's just a Raspberry Pi with a couple of joysticks and a monitor with a bit of wood for the cabinet.

If it uses RetroPie like the link says, I've had that installed on a Raspberry Pi and played about with it for a bit. Just connected it to my TV with HDMI and used a Playstation Controller.

It isn't that bad if you wanted something ready to go but you could save a fortune with a bit of geek time :)

Wouldn’t know where to start squire. I guess Raspberry Pi is some sort of machine (computer/pc etc) ?

Yeah basically it's powered by a mini PC (Raspberry Pi) and then that has an SD card in which will have all the games on.

If you wanted the cabinet setup for the arcade feel the one you posted is pretty good. If you wanted a bit of nostalgia and the novelty might wear off you could get something like this and plug it into the TV.

Ta. Have you ever tried one of these? Seems a bit cheap at only 17 quid?
It says you download the games you want and I guess they would be in the public domain a bit like the MAME Roms etc?

Yeah they are just cheapo HDMI devices with a couple of controllers, I don't think you will be able to add games. They probably have them in B and M and places like that.

If you were to use a Raspberry Pi, you can put ROMS on it and different emulators for MAME, SNES, Amiga etc. It looks like you can buy memory cards with it already done.

It just depends what you want to play on and if you will get £400 worth of use out of the one at Smyths!

Theres loads of videos on Retropie:
