If Callum O’Hare…….. (1 Viewer)

To be fair, Shipley's free kicks since that Luton one have been horrific.

This is exactly the point I am making. When you point something out as being an issue with O'Hare, you get this over and over.

O'Hares the best player we've ever had and never puts a foot wrong, and if he does its someone else's fault or there's someone else worst than him...close thread

I think as others have pointed out it’s you that has the fixation on him.
To be fair you've been quick to claim he's been amazing.

Got this on your spreadsheet?

Saying O'Hare looked on it when he'd had about two touches.

Correct. But why does O’Hare‘s poor end product get swept under the rug as much as it does? Because he’s a better player, maybe. So what, he should still be scoring more.
I don’t think it gets swept under the rug I tends to be in many posts whatever the heading.

he’s our most influential player and one of the most we’ve had in decades. That’s it really

Maybe.

But you were disputing the claim that you didn't fawn over him, creating responses that were a bit overly critical. I've just shown you have claimed he's been playing well when the reality didn't match that.

Dennis wise for one

As per usual you go way, way over the top. Looking busy.
Denis Wise was 39 when he joined us, on the face of could have been a disaster, particularly as he had only played 11 games the previous season. More luck than judgement I would say.

Didn't say anything about scouting or luck. Just he was much more influential for us.

Sorry but even if he was consistently scoring 10 goals a season he would still be here. He’s not good enough for the Premier League.

If it was just his finishing that’s stopping him being an “adequate” Premier League midfielder then I think clubs would take a punt on him for £5mil (a drop in the ocean to them) and get top finishing coaches working with him. But it won’t happen - I’d be surprised if any clubs came in for him (although I sincerely hope I’m wrong). Whereas I fully expect there to be interest in Hamer & Sheaf in the summer.

Oppositions fans single him out because they see a little player playing with his heart on his sleeve, running around lots and getting stuck in. They aren’t aware of how poor his goal contributions are. They aren’t aware how much he lacks composure. They aren’t aware of how bad his shooting and final ball is. Don’t you think if he was as good as people made out on here a higher-budget Championship club would be in for him? Let’s face it, we’re not turning down anything north of £5million - that’s peanuts to plenty of clubs even in the Championship.

So, championship clubs don't have any clue how poor his goal contributions are despite having been able to watch/scout O'Hare all season and having access to better statistical data? But they see someone running around so they think they need to foul him/double up? That must make Allen an even bigger threat for teams.

But ah yes all those famous 'top finishing coaches' that's exactly what a team would do if it was his only issue.

You aren't reading what's said. Shipley can strike a ball better and shoot through it.

Even his goal this season is better than I have ever seen O'hare strike a ball, then there's his Luton free kick.

Again, no way am I saying Shipley is better. Just the shooting part.
You just have to watch the pre match shooting Shipleys shots are going in O'Hares are hit and miss...no pun intended

He is above this division. Far too good.

He'd walk into any team in this league as would gyok. Jury's out on Hamer he goes from Lionel Messi to Lionel Blair far to often.

Being worth £8m and our owners getting £8m is a totally different story

What does that even mean? A player is only worth what another club is willing to bid for them. The club can choose to accept it or they don't. I'm not sure there are many examples of the club selling on the cheap.

The last big player sales of note were 3 years ago. We got £4 million for McCallum and £2 million for Bayliss. I'd say the club played an absolute blinder tbf.

We did not get £4m for McCallum, that’s utter fantasy

Clarke Harris was given away. Anyway we are now in a league which transfers operate very differently

Sorry, you're right I've just checked, it was £3.74 million.

it was nowhere near that it was about £750 upfront and staged payments which won’t yet have totalled that

And we're yet to sell a player of note at this level, so let's see what happens when we do. The last 2 departures were 3 years ago and were great business were they not?

He’s exactly right. You can’t be that simple to think that Norwich paid us £3.75m in cash straight away can you?

No, I know how transfers work, just like if someone pays us £8 million for Gyok, the payements would be phased, and there may also be add ons and conditions. That's how ALL transfers work.

It doesn't escape the fact the deal for McCallum was worth up to £4 million, widely reported in the Norwich media as a £3.5 million transfer fee + add ons. I suspect the transfer fee has been fulfilled now.

Id suspect it hasn’t, he’s played 1 game for them 😂
