I thought the FL had confirmed the whole £590k had been put in the holding account?

Most people on here seem to be ignoring that fact.

According to reports and Joy the whole 590K is with the fl ( is that enough proof Grendel? ;-)). In other words, if ACL don't get the full amount, it will be because the FL have so decided and we won't be getting a points deduction. Which is fair enough.

That's the way I understood it.

1. I can follow whatever sport I want to - I don't need your permission.
2. I can prioritise football wherever I want in my life. I don't give a shit whether you think that makes me a 'real fan' or not.
3. Wrong - I refused to attend whist King was there. My last comment on the matter is below.

So where did you get your "probably" from? Made it up right? Because as someone who clearly understands probability a little better than you, I would assume that people that think that honesty and justice are important are more likely to be anti-King , not less.

Yay! I get to pick a fight and be an outlier!

We should not have hounded Marlon King, I believe this because I believe in justice.

Our justice system is based on the fact that a man can "serve their time" and then be rehabilitated. Yes, if they fuck up again then that should be taken into account in their next sentencing, but the idea of forgiveness and reconciliation is important. In effect, when you leave jail you should have a clean slate. To not do so is to hold a grudge and never allow a criminal to reintegrate themselves into polite society.

I may not like King, I may think what he did was abhorrent, but I wouldn't want my club turning down someone for a spent conviction.

IIRC, while King was here under Boothroyd he didn't get into any trouble. Seems to me that coming to us did him (and by extension society) some good.

So I disagree with Ann on this one. However obviously Sick Boy (showing your age a bit there) has trouble understanding an educated mind that can both agree and disagree with one person.

Your forgetting one of the rules of this forum. If you agree with someone on one issue then you have to agree with them on all issues.

Its similar to the rule that if you hate Sisu now, but didn't hate them when they took over, then you are a hypocrite.

I thought I may have missed that as I've been on holiday and had no internet connection. However as I can only find a statement from the FL yesterday confirming this, I obviously hadn't missed it whilst away and very good news that we are less likely to be penalised. But why did the initial club statement not confirm this in the first statement they made on this, instead of just saying "a large amount"?

As instructed by the League, the club has already paid a large sum of money into an escrow account, ready for payment to ACL as soon as the correct number has been calculated.

From yesterday:

A Football League spokesman said: “The Football League is in ongoing discussions with Coventry City and ACL regarding monies owed under the club’s membership agreement with the league.

“At the current time, the two parties are interpreting elements of that agreement differently which has led to a further dispute between them over the amount owed.

“The Football League is seeking to resolve this matter so that all parties can concentrate on the more pressing issue of getting the club back to the Coventry area within the prescribed timeframe.

“Therefore, it will be considered by the league’s board at its next meeting on August 7 and in the intervening period the club has placed the full sum of £590,000 into an escrow account pending the outcome of the board’s deliberations.”

Yep that was the statement I saw this morning, and it's a relief to know that we should avoid any penalties over it.

Sadly it's not a relief to be back at work today.

I did not hound Marlon King, I ignored him. He may well have served his time according to the law of the land, but I judge him to be a nasty person and I choose to not give him a penny even indirectly. I also ignore other people I dislike - many of whom have never sexually assaulted anyone.

That's cool. There's a difference between a citizen and an employer. I too ignore people I don't like, I wouldn't want to be friends with Marlon, I also make all kids of silly and prejudiced decisions because I'm human. However I don't expect institutions to do the same.

Personally, I'm proud that we'll give people a second chance and (it appears from afar) keep them on the straight and narrow while they're here.

The problem was the presentation.

King was appealing, he was innocent.

It was just a cheeky pinch on the bum.

The girl was just out for attention, she'd sold her story.

Boothroyd was humbled in his presence.

Lucas was just attention seeking.

Lucas would be sneaking in, in disguise once King started scoring goals.

King was innocent really, we know best.

And none of that was condemned by may. Indeed, worse, some such as Lucas were hounded for condemning that.

That ain't giving people a second chance, that's condoning their actions by playing along with a game to get them on the cheap.

A bit, in fact, like 'we're appealing a JR result, we know best...'
