Maybe the coventry rugby ground would be much cheaper?

Well crowds never dropped for Southampton, Leicester or Norwich. I'm sure the people.of Coventry would continue to support their team. Or maybe not.

Firstly there would not be any significant drop in attendance tbf. We are already at a low ebb from that perspective.
as for cheaper elsewhere? Nope. we already pay a ridiculously low rental to ACL. Can't get better than that.
The council/ACL/Higgs....you name it need the football club as primary occupiers quite frankly. Something which runs in our favour.

True, but a run of good form helped with those clubs. Do we really think we'll be looking at a glorious bouncebackability-promotion season? We are a bit like Scunthorpe last season, and they aren't doing brilliantly this. Difference is, they had no fans to lose!

I reckon we would be lucky to see 10k in there. Unlike leicester,norwich etc you just know we wouldnt bounce back. Success just doesn't happen to Coventry.

If we got relegated ,we'd be down £ 2.5-3m,with loss of league money crowd tail off,how would they fund that gap,they can't possibly afford for that to happen,unless i'm missing something ,but we are running a perfect business model for that division ,they have to invest!!!

No why should they? A little off but nothing significant.
As I said we are already at a low ebb on that score. This unlike Scunthorpe is a City (however apathetic) of some half a million counting the catchment areas. Football is a national pastime for many. Winning on a regular basis would in fact probably increase crowds as Man City, Southampton etc have all found out. Not winning would merely keep us near to the level we have currently I suspect.

Income streams. Well that's a whole new ball game.

First few games, regardless of results 12-13k.

City in the top 6: October to December 14-15k, December to April 18-19K, last game of season needing a win for promotion 32k.

City mid table or worse for whole season: 11k.

There is no way we would ever sink to gettting 5-6k.

Our lowest ever average was 10500, just before JH took over.

the city as a whole isnt exacly booming rigght now tho is it!

coventry was a thriving city back then with a feel good factor people coming from all over for jobs etc.

what we gona do this time? get the polish ppl to valet a few cars to get the ciity buzzing again??

One of the main reasons for lack of CCFC as a hotbed footballing fan base could be the make up of the populace made up of several generations of migrant workers from both in and out of the UK - no politics here I may add

This has resulted in a succession of kids growing up amongst the wall to wall coverage of premiership clubs and taking their pick of which club to support leaving CCFC as a poor 2nd/3rd option if that.

This doesn't explain all the potential malaise of support as I feel sure fans will eventually surface to support a winning team with the attendance pattern in League 1 as indicated by CoundonSB.

There are other teams close to sCUNThortpe. Doncaster, Lincoln, Doncaster and Leeds up the M62. Lots of manure glory supporters as well. They have never had good support.

Exactly,some hardcore fans didn't renew for this season. They will be plenty more who won't renew next season if we go down. Anyone who says if we go down we can get rid of the deadwood,regroup and come back stronger is deluded.

the bookies don't get it wrong too often, i'm not being pessimistic, more realistic, which unfortunately the owners are not
if AT manages to get us away from the relegation struggle it will rank as a MAJOR achievement
and if our youngsters prove their worth i would heap praise upon them akin to our successful sides of the past
i'm not harking back to the sisu debate other than to try and highlight the obvious
we HAVE to improve the squad to survive in this league
the current status of doing & saying nothing is blasting the message to sky blue fans, that they care NOT A JOT for our club

I dont think it would drop too much lower, i think there is a hardcore that would stay through thick and thin. I think if we started winning this would pick up again...

Its very hard to imagine League1 but sadly it looks very likely with this current squad and a board unable to help a inexperienced manager all add up to relegation..

The side will be full of kids through the winter months when injuries kick in even harder. Some of the experienced players can't stay fit through the start of the season so it looks bad and I mean bad. We dont score enough goals through the side, the midfield dont contribute and the forwards will get you 6-7 each through the season and the new lad looks like he couldn't hit a barn door from what I've seen and dont give me the he gets in the positions speech. He SHOULD be getting in those positions to score...that's his job.

Sadly were going down and If we stay up this would be superb achievement for Thorn with what he has available to him and the sick notes he has inherited.

Whilst the crowds might be similar in number to this year will the revenue be the same? Could we really demand the same ticket prices for third division football? Unlikely I would have thought and estimate match revenue would be down 15 to 20%. Meaning further cuts and a long stay in div 3.

Income would fall dramatically due to the payments spread, gate money would fall, merchandise revenue would decline.................and SISU would cut accordingly if they don't just pull the plug in the meantime. Surely there is provision though for this in stadium rental agreements and players contracts?
