For years our fan base has bemoaned the club’s lack of a long term plan. Yet, we have a manager who is our best since relegation from the Premiership, and we have one of the youngest teams in the league. Why don’t we give them time to develop and the manager time to build the squad. We’ve spent money on young talent, and you can tell from our results that we’re close to turning a lot of these frustrating losses and draws into wins.

In my view, it would be a very stupid decision on several dimensions to sack Robins. If we have a disastrous start to next season after another summer of good investment, then there may be a strong case against Robins.

Actually you could have used the same quotes on Mowbray in season one when it was very obvious he should have been sacked by February when he’d clearly lost all direction. The consequence was allowing him the summer which was a catastrophe in terms of recruitment - he’s miserable form continued and we were relegated

Chaplin
Bakayoko

Agreed that our better players are probably loanees, certainly Sterling anyway but I don't think we're quite as reliant on them as we were under Mowbray where we literally had a loanee or nothing.

Didn't we pay a fairly substantial amount for Williams? Plus fees/wages for a number of U23 players? Not sure what your definition of investment is

Sunderland was in the Championship, he doesn't have a great record when making that step up.

Bradford wasn't great but, as I said, some bigger issues going on there. He also didn't have a transfer window, so didn't have a chance to make changes. They are doing a lot worse this year.

Overall you can't really argue with his record in this division.

That said, I'd still stick with Robins at the moment. We play some decent football but need to address the lack of goals even if that is in the summer. The only thing that would move me from that position is if we got pulled closer to a relegation fight. Next season is key though, playoffs as a minimum has to be the target.

And they are all players with potential. Yes, there have been mistakes made but I feel we can reap the rewards of these players next year once they've had time to bed in. Thought Bakayoko looked good at the weekend, aside from the bad miss. Think we now need to see this season out and push on next year. I'd still like a target man type striker adding, even if it's just as a plan B.

Only the best because the others have been so bad.
I think it's no accident that most of the managers in the EPL are foreign.
British managers in general have proven to be very poor.
I'm not saying we should get rid of Robins right now, but you can't deny he has made many decisions which are hard to justify.

Couldn't disagree more.

This is a consolidation season. I admit, it's not perfect. But it didn't look perfect this time last year either.

We looked crap up front and relied on an excellent defence. Changing manager is to be avoided unless things look like they are going nowhere.

I went to the London meeting with Mark Robins and though things are rocky at present, he is a man with a plan and he has the best interested of the club at heart.

This is a season of fine margins, and while it might be tempting to rant and rave, I think cool heads will get us further.

Because some of our fan base still think we are a premiership club and get successive promotions winning every game.
Totally agree with you and having owners where we have to find half the squad every season due to short term signings and loans has been half the problem.

Give MR at least another season to get us pushing for the playoffs and if he isn’t then start asking questions

No I think we are a normal football club that reacts to short term issues.

The squad is weaker than the start of the season and will get a lot weaker in the summer which means another round of Robins recruitment

Did anyone actually think we were going to go up this year? If so you’re bordering on delusional. People will say look at Luton, but we finished 30 points behind them last season and they’ve strengthened massively again this year with heavy investment. Give him another season and come January if he isn’t knocking on the door of the play offs, then we may have to re-evaluate the situation. I think people forget what he’s done for this club in arresting the massive slide that many good managers failed to do so in the past. It only takes a quick look at Notts County this season to show that we really could’ve been in the s**t had we not gone up last season.

This threads a crock of shit. The club had no sort of infrastructure before Robins came back. We now have an established recruitment team, the aim was promotion for last year, this year they've also said play offs this year, which looks like falling short but they also stated the recruitment would also focus on the wider club, ie improving the standard of the under 23's, and generally getting the club on a stronger footing in terms of players.

And then what, the merry go round starts again, we bring in a different manager, who likes to play football in a different way, a manager who perhaps isn't particularly concerned with how the club is run, begins to neglect the U23's, stops blooding Academy players into the 1st team.
