Sounds like a great idea and it seems to have happened fortuitously. Let's hope that others will take the idea on board as loneliness in old age is a contentious subject to breach given that men, especially, would rather not talk about it, (the same applies to depression), as they are issues perceived by many of those who would benefit from some form of human contact as an admission of weakness or vulnerability.
The whole thing works. Even down to the local business generating income. It’s only one step removed to have something City related as a theme for breakfasts. Not yer rich back scratching kind of event but also offering the social contact over and above what brings them together.
The City based theme would be a great way to get the ball rolling and would be an incentive to those who would otherwise probably think twice about assisting because making that initial effort is probably the biggest hurdle for most to overcome.
Lots of clubs have mental health walk and talk events.
Surprised there isn't a City related one set up already.
Lots of non football related ones out there as well.
