In 48 hours time CCFC will have completed their first game at Sixfields. There are a lot who have said that the club would be dead to them the second we kick off in Northampton, with this now being a certainty how many still feel this way?

I personally feel a massive disconnect with the club. They no longer represent me or my home town community. This hasn't happened overnight - in fact crowds have been declining for a number of years now. It's not just about the Ricoh either, we have been massively living beyond our means and £1.2 million a year rent is not the only cause of this, in fact if the figures SISU quote are to be believed it is only a very small part of it. The club are now allegedly £70 million in debt and this is a millstone around our neck.

Maybe now is the time to start again and build a club with a sustainable future for our children and grandchildren. It won't be an easy thing to do but, for some people at least, it may be the right thing to do. At the very least we need to have a plan in place. I personally don't want to drift away to watching Man Utd on TV every week, and I don't want to adopt/takeover another Coventry club as my own - this is disrespectful to their existing fans and doesn't represent me. I need a club that represents me and my fellow fans, where we can sing all the songs we all know and love, and the only way to do this is to start our own.

11th August has been a happy date for me in the past:

11th August 1980 - passed my driving test.

11th August 1990 - married Mrs Scam.

However this Sunday 11th August will be a sad day for me and the club I've supported for half a century, as we kick off at 'home' in Northampton.
Mrs Scam has given me permission to enjoy the charity match at the Ricoh, so I'll catch up with many friends and cheer on some of my favourite players, before returning to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
It'll be a bitter sweet day for me.

Looking at another thread I'm not sure even the football league are convinced we are coming back.

I would genuinely take either of those things now so we could move on. Club is just in limbo at the moment between life and death. The financial state of the club is that poor that I don't realistically see a takeover happening.

For me, I would have never stopped supporting the club. Albeit that I could have taken a break from the rubbish served up occasionally. In the blood.

I never thought the club would leave me. That makes a difference. I will not go until SISU leave. Full stop.

I will unite with others who keep football in Coventry at the Ricoh. The legacy has been nicked. But we still have memories of some successes. Nothing will take that away from us and I am sure a new club will be the same Coventry City we know and love. Because the fans make the club what it is.

as i said on a similar thread i think its time for fans who have the ability to organise this (not me) to start laying down some hard plans ready for the start of the next season and if by xmas there looks to be no hope of either sisu going or the club coming home or worst still that ccfc wont see the season out it will probably be time to start putting these plans in action.

Not sure how we best go about this to be honest but think there are a few who have put some thought into it. I guess at some point a public meeting needs to be held to start pulling things together. I'm on nights this weekend so may look at pulling together a list of useful contacts at other clubs who may be able to guide us. I'm happy to be involved and put some work in but I'm certainly no figurehead for sure.

Thanks Nick - 'You Make Me Feel So Young'. I feel like I'm in my 'late twenties', however I was born in 1958 and started following the team in the Jimmy Hill/Derrick Robbins era.

We're now in the lowest position, with the weakest squad and the worst 'owners' I've seen in my lifetime.

23 years happily married to Mrs Scam with two children: Scam Jnr currently studying History at Nottingham University and Miss Scamtastic still in 6th form.

I met Mrs Scam just before we beat Stoke in the FA Cup in 1987 - it was a very good year

Yep, Wimbledon have helped others such as FC United and Pompey (whose situation was obviously slightly different). Sure people at Wimbledon, FC United, Darlington, Chester and others would be more than willing to lend advice from their own experiences.

I can't see a way back either. Very sad but the fans are the club so we will just continue under a new guise.

Feel like I'm missing the excitement the first home game of the season should bring. Normally buzzing with anticipation but not feeling much at all at the moment. Anyone else feel the same?

It just feels like an away game, but with even less interest than I'd normally have. I'd like us to win as I usually would, but I have absolutely no sense of anticipation that normally greets proper matches.
