Tbf to the op Robins is definitely an admirer and they had a good long chat together at the end of our game with them. Not saying there is anything in it, but he definitely fits our profile is an area we need to strengthen, ball park budget and available after relegation, so wouldn't be the biggest stretch to suggest we might be interested. If he sees how other players have developed here I would think we're near the top of his list too. I'd give this an 8/10 on the rumour mill, high indeed with all the bullshit flying around at this time of year.

Come on now I know you're down on this signing for some reason but it's nothing like Tavares. Rodrigues is more of a Tavares style punt if anything.

He’s played 80 games in the championship at the age of 22 for starters

Come on shmmeee bit early to be downbeat…don’t even know if we’ve bid for him 😂

But Saka was a fans favourite and as I say Gus has insane stats. Rudoni sounds more like a Tavares or whatever that might come good. Like I say maybe that’s the fees you pay these days but just crazy money for me for players who are yet to perform at any level.
That's a ridiculous comment.

Rudoni has been a nailed on starter in the championship this season. In fact, he has comparable/better stats to Palmer while playing for a much worse team.

He’s a “might come good” “can fill a few positions”, all a bit uninspiring for £2m.

I suppose closer to a Latibeaudiere? Same age. But much more expensive.
Think he's a good Championship player who looked good in a shite team tbh. Let's see anyway, it might not even be real.

Save me @Frostie (or I think @Evo1883 ) give us one of those fancy comparison graphs from the stats app for Palmer vs Rudoni
I'm not sure how much graphs can tell you at times when one player is playing in a significantly better team than another. I already know I'd have him over Palmer without seeing any graph.

Rudoni is a creative wasteland of a midfielder. Haji Wright created as many chances as he did this season. And he missed more big chances than any midfielder in the league last season.

Palmer played the equivalent of 14 less 90-minute games than Rudoni and created 6 more chances. Van Ewijk created more last season than Rudoni.
Chances created is a low quality stat imo, assuming this is Opta's methodology.

It's just assists + passes to a player who shoots. So doesn't really describe that much about creating good chances, just means the receiver had a shot.

Sorry for wanting our main attacking midfielder to be someone who can create for Ellis Simms and Haji Wright rather than a run around a lot merchant
Lol and you think Palmer is that man? Hopefully Robins doesn't agree.

I'd like to point out I stuck with Palmer for quite a while because I do like footballers who try and entertain but unfortunately he's just one of the most frustrating footballers I've ever watched and I don't need to stare at a fucking graph to tell me that, I just watch the game.

In an ideal world I’d have Jarne Steuckers or Nanasi doing it, but yes if the only two options are stick with Palmer or spend £2-3m on Rudoni I’d pick Palmer.

Well I've looked at Nanasi and I'd agree on that but fully disagree on Palmer.

That’s fair, it’s a game of opinions. I just think if we are going to spend money on the position we could do better than Rudoni at the price.
Possibly, although foreign imports don't always work. We've been good at it recently I must admit but some other clubs are awful at it.

Grass is always greener mate. Stats seem pretty conclusive. As an AM he’s worse than Palmer, maybe slightly better as a goal scorer but hardly Haji Wright.

what's our thoughts of robins' strike rate with regards to signings?
clearly, he thinks he sees something in all the players he's signed.
has it got it badly wrong that often??

When will people learn. IF Robins does end up signing Rudoni, it will be because he thinks he has the right attributes, capacity to learn the system(s) we want, and the potential to improve his performances, output, and therefore, his value.

We don't sign finished articles, we sign rough diamonds because of the players they can, potentially, become.
