Well Tim Fisher the CEO of CCFC has confirmed it, mind you he has been known to be economical with the actualite.. Sandra Garlick is presently busily promoting a new stadium outside Coventry.Has it not been confirmed that ccfc will never play in Coventry again?
Are there any serious people doing anything about this?. I would guess a lot of people would support and with the now seemingly permanent absence of CCFC from Coventry, I don't understand the commentators saying "only if there is no chance of a return" Surely now is the time? given there is no chance of a Coventry return.
What did the people of Wimbledon have that we as fans don't? Was it that they were just more organised?
Unless anyone knows different, Trust position is they'll only do afc if ccfc is liquidated.
Some of us kcic-ers looked at this pre christmas and very quickly realised starting a new club is a huge undertaking and completely impossible for 2014/15. Plus, support for a new club is growing but is still relatively small. In wanting to do something about football in Coventry we looked at different options and ended up with the sponsorship of Coventry Sphinx (see http://keepcovincov.weebly.com/kcic-supporting-football-in-cov---with-coventry-sphinx.html). Sphinx is now the senior team in Coventry, grew out of the car industry in the 1940s and is very much part of the City's heritage. It's not everyone's cup of tea but well worth a visit just to see what you think.
You are supporting an AFC team - the old club is dead and being liquidated.
Be careful, you're not supporting the CCFC that won the FA Cup but an asset stripped start-up under the name 'Otium'. Branding rights and the Football League have made it so.
It's not as easy as that though is it. A team like the Sphinx would need extra financial support and bodies for match days etc, probably a new internal structure to cope with the potential for extra resources. Then to send them back to Sphinx drive if it didn't work out leaving them holding the baby would be wrong.Michael I don't understand why people are not recognising that Sphinx could be the future. Yes we all want CCFC back home but the fact is that as every day goes by that is looking less likely. My opinion now is that it will never happen. The fans have no control over that and we need to somehow gain control to ensure the Coventry has a football team. There is nothing to lose by Sphinx being encouraged by the fans to agree a short term trial tenancy of the Ricoh from next season. They're 4 tiers below the FL. See how it goes, see what support is generated, and I reckon as things get worse still for CCFC under SISUs ownership, the fans will recognise that Sphinx is the future. If the support doesn't materialise they go back to Sphinx Drive. No damage done.
Well, it wouldn't be any worse or better than supporting an AFC team that meant nothing to me.
What drove you to support CCFC in the first place though? Was it not that they were representing the City from which you were born or grew up? A team that gives you an identity very much for the same reason you support England?
How could supporting Villa or any other team you drew out the hat be the same as supporting your home town team should CCFC cease to exist?
Given that Ltd had the golden share, we hadn't support the ccfc that won the FA cup since 1995.
It certainly would shake them up and those fans who would like to see SISU rattled would love it (me included) but with something as important as this you need to think with your head and not your heart. Just say it did take off and then SISU won the JR. Would we then see court cases against Sphinx with massive legal bills for them too to get them out the Ricoh? I really don't think that deep down many City fans want this situation or SISU at the helm of our club but fans view things differently. Morals have been spouted about recently. We all love to take the moral high ground but isn't just supporting the team and leaving the politics to the politicians a moral stance in its own right. I really do fear for the future of CCFC. You only have to look at the amount of litigation (allegedly) being issued to different parties to tell you something isn't right. But not only that, how will this affect Coventry fans in years to come once this is all over? People that I called friends and still do have been split by this, and we can point the finger at whoever we want it still doesn't change anything. The damage done to us fans may last for years. I think we are a step closer to a Phoenix club but what that will look like is anyone's guess. Can't see ACL letting the pitch go to waste next season.
Ernie makes a lot of sense.
No harm in contingency plan.
I'd imagine Sphinx would be delighted to play at the Ricoh.
And I'd imagine there would be at least 1,000 people ready to support them initially.
This would give them a firm footing at that level.
Sure it's a touchy subject, but some realism has to come into it.
Sphinx -rising from the ashes.
It does need a figurehead though.
Turkey makes valid points too, but hesitating now will cost another lost season. Fudging over a name is way too cautious.
I read so many now on here who feel CCFC are not coming back and hate the idea of a poxy little ground way out of the city.
And there seems to be a change of mood about a phoenix club amongst some posters.
Well, how long are you prepared to wait?
It looks like we'll be tied up in courts for years.
The Judicial Review doesn't even seem to be the 'real' JR, just a preliminary hearing. That'll drag on.
It is a thorny and emotional subject I know. Don't get me wrong - I want CCFC back at the Ricoh next game. I've supported them since 1959 with a passion.
But realism has to come into it at some point.
And wouldn't another team playing at the Ricoh shake Sisu up?
Was born in Warwickshire not Coventry. My Dad was born in Cov and has been going since 1952. He took me on my seventh birthday and at 48 I'm still going. Similarly I take my son who first attended a game at three. He also isn't born in Coventry. Things aren't as cut and dried and as black as white as a lot on here try to make out.
I support CCFC, not CCAFC or AFCCC or any other variation. If the team who I have supported for 41 years doesn't exist then I won't support anyone. Which is why I gave the example of picking a name out of a hat.
One other thing, I dislike international football so have never been interested in England.

Turkey, can you remind me of the date of the JR?
What you say about them winning and implications of that is a serious concern. Maybe someone with a legal background could wade in here?
But then again, we have it in print - from Mr Fisher himself. They left the Ricoh (and owing rent). They moved on and wouldn't be returning.
Present a judge with that & they don't have a leg to stand on.
That's fair enough, Torch.
...a Coventry band...
It's my home, my city and I love it.
