I am throwing this out there because on a lot of posts people are saying that we have the best players in the division and that a good manager will sort them out !!!
Is it possible that our team squad of freebies just isn't good enough ?

Consistency and confidence seems to be the main factor. Plus neither Thorn or now Shaw know their best 11, have we had the same back 4 for more than 1 game this season?

The new boss will sort the men from the boys, but i do expect a few players to become casualties.

Jennings is one player I've been dissapointed with and Baker needs a brain transplant.

Yes its almost a certainty. We have played 8 games this season and only played well bar the odd 20 minutes in 1 of them. I'm sorry but if you are good at something then this cant be possible. Especially a team game where a collective ability and desire should pull the team through even if one or two players are having an off day.

Anything is possible.

But I don't agree it's that. We have shown glimpses of looking a very good side, just no belief and a lack of concentration. We play well, get our goal then let the other side in, fans get on their backs and they go to pieces.

The fact we can perform for part of a match shows they can do it, it's just a mental issue.

First home game against Sheff Utd, piss poor first half with absolutely no desire, ability etc. How can you put it down to belief in the first game?? I could understand it after a bad run but its the first game.

It's possible they're not good enough, but I think most fans would agree that they are. We need someone to motivate and make them believe in themselves. The fans won't do that obviously, so the right manager is needed.

Formation just doesn't work at this level. The diamond formation lends itself to the 'modern football' era, where slick pass and move sides pull their opponents about by packing the midfield and don't rely on width from the full backs, man city are a prime example with play-makers Silva and Nasri on playing almost on the right side and left side of the diamond.

Whoever the new manager is, he NEEDS to address our lack of pace and width in the side. Sign a couple of young wingers on loan, with bags of energy and pace. Stick Jennings and Thomas in the centre, with McGoldrick and McDonald up front and then we will be a threat. Thorn and now Shaw are trying to be too clever with the diamond formation and for me it just does not work, as Mike Bassett once said 'FOUR, FOUR FUCKING TWO'.

We didn't play the diamond yesterday, we played 442, as we did on Tuesday vs Burton.

Oh right well we looked horribly narrow yesterday for a 4-4-2 formation, and we certainly didn't play the tactics that are usually employed with that formation, i.e. use the width and get the crosses into the box, instead we played as we have done using the diamond formation, our unique brand of 'tiki taka', posing little to no threat to the opposition.

There's not many goals in that side along with a defence who can concede with any pressure at all... not a winning recipe. Add in probably the weakest midfield for 30 years and it aint looking great.
The next manager needs to be an extrovert who can at least have a go at lifting the depression in the dressing room, otherwise its gonna be a long hard year with crowds around 5k.

Were the Wimbledon team of the eighties good enough? As individuals probably not, but as a collective unit, very much so. We all know what's required, passion over ability because that's where we are right now stuck with a bunch of players who desperately need motivating ASAP!

It is the same old story we take the lead and then surrender tamely ........ I thought that Stevenage would win once they had equalised .There seems to be an alarming lack of physical fitness and mental toughness .
I felt that we were weak on the left side with neither Hussey or Kilbane really doing anything of note .
Baker was very poor and Barton was virtually non existant .
Murphy was badly at fault for the first goal .
Both front players spent more time outside of the box in wide positions because mid field is so poor .
We offer NO threat from dead ball situations as we cannot beat the first man .
All in all I think we have been sold a pup .
I cannot see any improvement at all .
I used to think that the 1991 / 1992 side was the worst I had seen wear the colours ........ they look like world beaters compared to this lot.
I agree with other posts that the next Manager is very,very important .
A shrewd man manager / motivator coupled with a grasp of tactics .
