I too have had the lengthy reply from the Football League and, reading between the lines, they seem to be pointing the finger at the Administrator for selecting Otium as the preferred bidder. Regardless of whether or not the FL failed to apply the "fit and proper persons test" they are implying once again that had they not gone along with Appleton, CCFC would have ceased to exist.

I can now also see why ACL rejected the CVA - primarily because liquidation cannot happen without the approval of the High Court and, in order to d0 this, there now has to be a full and deep investigation of SISU's associated companies and the Administration process.

I think the FL has it's hands tied (yes, they are gutless and spineless) and the only way forward for us is to starve SISU out - NOT ONE PENNY MORE.

Agreed VOR. Starve SISU/OTIUM with NOPM and sooner rather than later the FL will have to step in again. With all the pressure and scrutiny they're being subjected to, they would NEVER allow a SISU company to continue to run the football club.

As I've said before, SISU could easily be history by Christmas.

I think this is the key... a lot of people may be hastily trying to cover their backs before this goes to the High Court for a decision. Question:- why is Appleton taking so long ?

I don't think the FL have the backbone for it. Unless SISU sell I can't see them going. I think the liquidation is more of a formality now surely?

Personally I think the lettters issued are an attempt to deflect the blame on to anyone other than themselves

I think it is quite telling that despite the many questions regarding the rules/regulations of the FL there is basically a one line answer to all

"for the record it is categorically not the case that the Football League has failed to apply its own rules ...."

There are very few actual rules that are not dependent on the "discretion" of the Board ............. which means they can make things up to fit and never be wrong ...... question is in reality is that a right and proper way to govern our sport? ......... seems to me to put the need to play a set number of fixtures above the reputation and integrity of the sport, and pays lip service to the needs of the fans.

Well lets hope so VOR - Aren't insolvency laws so flexible that Appleton is going to be able to wriggle out of this one anyway? Or are you referring to the statements in the press that there were no players contracts in LTD etc? If this is proved and Appleton was basically bending the truth to the FL then there is a case.

I'm sure there is more to come out on this but I have absolutely no confidence is the football establishment or the government on this one. On a personal note I am a long time season ticket holder not attending in Northampton. I will go to a few away games although i feel a deep sense of detachment with the whole thing.

Yes, I agree with you, but if the FL had not applied it's "discretion" surely this would have meant that CCFC would have gone out of existence as there was no other Company to award the Golden Share to ? I don't know, I'm not an expert - I just hope all this comes out in the High Court !

Why? the Football League had already accepted from 22/03/13 that CCFC H could run the football club...... at their discretion they could have left that situation until the mess had been sorted out and could have been putting real pressure on to get it sorted...... instead they went for path of least resistance at the time and paid lip service to putting any pressure on.

The FL are men of straw, an utterly abject bunch of irresponsible wankers. This is not going away. Indeed with each twist in this sorry tale their weaknesses are further exposed.
If they had faced up to their own responsibilities from the get go we could have had a resolution. Instead it gets steadily worse.
It is therefore self inflicted.
Moreover, NOPM is a wholesale rejection of governance in football.
Stick with it.
