Is the time up for him, would a new manger improve us or is it new players that we need??

The stats do not lie. Thorn is a good scout, but a good manager?

I don't think the players are that bad on paper, it just needs the right mangaer to get the best from them.

Eastwood, cody, juke, cligan, baker, bigi, cranie, christy, wood, keogh, quirke.

League one teams have better financial backing than outlr recent managers. Its proven over the past 10 or so years that, apart from Adams, who I think had probably the most funds available (happy to be corrected) , that managers havent had much money, havent performed that well, we've changed the manager too prematurly, and been in the same shite the following seasons.

Changing manager imo, unless the players are failing to perform and this shows on the pitch, doesnt have the necessary effect.

Quirks? Eastwood, never done it above L1, Cody, Juke, Bigi, Christie all young and learning their trade, three in first full season. Wood signed from a relegation destined team, Baker from L2. With a combination like that we're positioned about right.

Look at the top of the table, money talks....

I remember when we got relegated from Prem, people said sign championship players and you get Championship football. Well looking at our squad of players who I think are genuinely trying, we're heading in a direction we should expect.

Regardless of who is filling out the team sheet and calling the tactics

ok not quirke. Doh, maybe ireland. But how long does it take to learn the trade? And how long would you give thorne? (as nice a guy as he seems).

sw88 Coleman spent the most! Adams had a few pennies from mcsheffery sale! Coleman spent good money on, Westwood, Freddy, Bell, Gunnar, Craine, Baker, Clingan, Wood to name but a few!!!

The problem we have is that its took 10 yrs for any of the owners to realise we need to make the club a profitable business to survive !!! The problem SISU have is they are doing the right thing 10 years after it should have been done, as a result they have got the brunt of the blame for it!!!

In our current situation we have a group of players who in my eyes can do enough to stay in this league! We are in the bottom 3 and have only won 2 games all season and actually 2 games in 20! Is that acceptable with this current crop of players?? I personally don't think it is, as a result Thorns ability to coach, train and manage the current crop of players has to be questioned along with the ability of Harrison and oggy as well!!!!

Learn a trade? Jukes first full season was in and out the side last year, Thomas played once last year, Bigi and Cyrus made their debuts in August!

Hardly seasoned pros

Thats probably true Lord_Nampil thinking about it. Most of Adams (shite) signings were frees i.e. Trevor Benjamin etc.

It was refreshing to hear an outsiders opinion on Cov today. I was putting some bets on in ladbrokes (out of Cov) and the woman putting my bets on asked 'What league are you in?? League 1??' I jokinly said give us some credit, but did also say I would be very surprisd if we werent there next yr (this wasnt the refreshing part). Another guy working there said he had no fear we would be relegated and that we'd be safe. I hope he's right!

Have to agree about Harrison and oggy, have both been there to long and go hand in hand with previous failed managers.

As for AT think it's unfair to slag him off given that he has to work with what he's got and no backing from sisu.

As for the Thorn out brigade who do they think they can bring in and do any better under the current constraints

The players have been dreadful this season with only a few being worth their pay cheque. The squad needs adding to but i'm not sure Thorn has the influence to bring in anybody who will inprove it. With everybody blaming SISU, the players and management are getting away with murder. Said this before and will say it again, as a club, we will achieve nothing employing the likes of Baker & Bell.

AT has had a severely restricted budget. I think the idea it is less than league one sides is balls! Maybe one or 2 but that is all.
I'd challenge any manager to be successful in this league in the circumsdtances.

Personally I'm fed up of the "unknowledgable" fans search for sucess through constant change.. it does not work! You have to build up from solid foundations or have an extemely rich backer (e.g. Man City & Chelsea).

I'd stick with AT unless he loses the squad & so far they are right behind him, go AT go!

I didnt't mean it like I thought they were seasoned pros already. Well before then they get sold anyway, if there half decent, and some times when there not even that. I still think we'll stay up just.....

2 wins out of 20? Who could do worse statistically? Not many. Question to the Thorn fans - if Peter Reid was manager with exactly the same resources would you be so forgiving? I think not. But I stand to be corrected so let me know.

Actually its 5 wins out of 24 league games actually Kduffy. Not brilliant but nowhere near as bad as 2 out of 20 you keep posting

I think if you include the Bury debacle it is 3 wins in 20 so I stand corrected. We did not win any of the last 4 games last season. I'll be right after Tuesday - It'll be 2 from 20 then. What will it be at the end of November do you think.

honestly we have had some bad managers and not realized. The player we have had on loan! Henderson n cork playin for better teams now! N they played wiv dann and fox. Think bout it 4 good players in same team n awful managers to manage them

At least its only a fifth of people so far living in dreamland of us bringing in some kind of messiah to replace Thorn. 80% live in the real world. There is no-one decent who will come here!!

My honest opinion is that Thorn is obviously still a bit of a novice and is obviously making mistakes and therefore could not be described as a good manager. In saying that though I do think if anyone else came in any upward turn would be minimal and might just have put another 2, 3 or 4 points on the board. There wouldn't be a massive improvement because of the lack of quality and size of the squad.

Course come the end of the season, 2 or 3 or 4 points could be crucial. Could be the difference between staying up or being relegated.

Fully behind Thorn but let's hope he doesn't make any more mistakes like he did against Burnley last week. We need all the help we can and don't need managers making our life anymore difficult than it already is.

Several things - surely you can have a novice manager with a squad with a bit of experience or an experienced manager with a novice squad. With a novice manager and novice squad, mistakes are bound to continue. Also, everyone is aware that the squad is bare and no money to reinforce; is Thorn doing the very best (formation, players in position, motivation, tactics which can be changed mid match) with what he has. At the moment, I don't think he is. I agree with stability IF you are backing the right horse.

When was the last time we backed the right horse? Do we keep sacking managers till we find the right one? How do we know we've found the right one? What happens when that manager goes on a bad run? Is he no longer the right man?

At the end of last season 3 wins in 10, unlucky to drop some other points, playing attractive football the majority thought thorn was the right man. 4 star players down, plus 5-6 squad players, what has changed from last season?

This "novice" manager has been massively more impressive in his communication, tactical awareness, motivation, man-management, team selection and player judgement than any of our previous 6 "experienced" managers. I don't want another has-been or never-was, I want a man with a fresh approach and vision. Thorn is that man. He's getting about 75% more out of this squad than our previous managers would have done, there is no doubt about that in my mind. So AT has made some errors? Maybe a handful of little ones...COLEMAN, DOWIE AND AIDY MADE AROUND A DOZEN ERRORS EACH GAME! They got MOST calls wrong! Plus they spoke to the fans as if we were ignorant idiots-Thorn tells it like it is. If he gets forced out by all you "Thorn out" fools, you will once again end up with the manager you deserve and I hope you enjoy L1!

Oh how wonderful, just to make you right you are obviously hoping we will lose on Tuesday................ The mind boggles as they say????????
