not being negative its called being a realist

look at facts over the last 12 months we have regressed as a team

fa cup run paper over the cracks

our form since April has been shocking as have the performances

Fans have put the effort in. Another big crowd yesterday and performance was shocking

all the season tickets sold and lack of transfer activity will soon have a negative effort if the team continue to play poor

that might sound negative but it’s true and if you don’t believe it then you are delusional
You never have context though. You look at it so black and white and throw a paddy.

We came within a whisker of getting to an FA Cup final, and yes it dropped off in the league after that but there has to be some understanding of that, they’re not robots.

If you class as missing out on the playoffs for a second year running because they ran out of steam, and a ridiculous VAR decision from an FA cup final as “regression” then I’m sorry but you are delusional - which I think you are as it goes.

You have been negative since the day King arrived, you’re so consumed in the negative attitude that you fail to see any positives.

This is why I told you to fuck off yesterday, you inherent need to spread your negativity to a fanbase that has lived through what we have been through is tedious at best. We’ve never have it so good (those of a certain age would argue that). But in my lifetime, this is the best I’ve known it. And an absolute lunchbox like you is insistent on still spreading negativity.

We got 21 points from our last 19 games after the Leicester victory

It’s a myth it was just the cup.

We were less resolute defensively even though we scored goals.

We have to be top 6 this season. It’s total failure if not.

I don’t think we’ve regressed as a team. Where there has been a massive difference is expectation. We are playing in the biggest dogfight league possibly in the world. We’ve spent a few quid. We had an outstanding season two seasons ago. Suddenly we’re being recognised as a team that should “do something”. The issues we have as a team are consistent (and not massive in my opinion) but what people now expect is massively different.

Imagine my surprise, the other negative Nigel on the forum appears.

Why would it be total failure? Again, absolutely no context. Just black and white.

Because we have invested in players some of whom would move on next season and we’d have to start again.

People expect this season. The excuses are gone. We were highly fancied at the start of the season and fans want and believe it’s doable. You can’t start slipping back - that’s not progress.

and that’s part of the marketing team promoting the pressure and expectations IMG_9142.jpeg

Don't mention the cup because people were claim it doesn't matter and that we only beat Wolves.

Probably the best day I've ever had following Coventry. One day we'll miss these days. We need to enjoy it.

seriously you need to give your head a wobble

this team is regressing whether it’s past 2 months, 6 months 12 months or 18 months. apart from a fa cup run which we had the luck of the draws we’ve regressed in the league
I think people’s beef is your need to sensationalise everything.. The team has regressed, but I think it’s a case of taking a few steps back to go forwards. We were *extremely* lucky the last couple of seasons with recruitment. Gyokeres is a 100m€ striker and current top 3 in the world. Hamer is an outstanding championship/premier league midfielder as is Sheaf. We were never going to replace them like for like. There will be mistakes along the way.

Ok, so say for example, we win the league cup, the FA cup, and we miss out on playoffs on goal difference.

Still a total failure?

From kings perspective most definitely and neither of those things will happen

Top 3 in the world? bloody hell would love the drugs you are on. exceptional player but not top 3 in the world

with this model you don’t get time to make mistakes. the good players will eventually leave and the rubbish players will stay and it’s another cycle of gelling and bedding new players again

Fans have done their bit, 22.5k is superb

I think lower mid table is where this team is at, which is poor.

We’ve spent money poorly, we should be doing much much better.

It's a dangerous precedent to set if people start expecting success because we've sold 22,000 season tickets.

We spent 15 years taking the piss out of the likes of Sunderland for doing exactly the same.

It's unfortunately why thousands abandoned their football club as we dropped down the leagues.

I agree it's very early to judge, like everyone else, what I've seen has been poor. To say we have done this the last few seasons and ended up doing well in the league and the cup are both valid and things we should be extremely happy with given where we were, but questioning progression in terms of how we start the season in particular is valid imo.
Why cant we be one of those teams that starts well for a change? that would be immediate progression for me, what are the other teams that are doing well at the start doing differently?

We aren't the only team who did business and brought in new players, other teams have been doing it as well so it's not always an excuse, if we started well for a change that might be the extra bit we need to get over the line.

No that’s a fair comment in terms of should be the same every year I get that.

That happened at Brentford before they got promoted, they sold better players and bedded in new ones. and statistically yes, Gyokeres is top 3. I thought you were big on facts? Or does that not suit your argument this time?

put it puts pressure on the expectations

Fans have bought into the ‘dream’ and they expect to see good football and results

We know how fickle football fans are
This international break is critical, could come at the perfect time

It's just marketing.

The club used to promote the same stuff back in League 1 and 2.

Fans should back the club regardless. Unfortunately, 10,000 fans in there yesterday wouldn't have been able to point to a match they went to in 2013.

There are still going to be 7 or 8 bigger averages than ours come may so it's a silly pointless point .

it’s the Portuguese league Vik was shrewd in his thinking

Portuguese league is on par with the championship for standard

if he rips it in the champions league this year then he would be up there with Kane, mbappe and co

Unless you’re very, very lucky. The only way out of this division is to buy your way out.
That means keeping your best players, and buying even more, better players.
That means no strict wage structure.
That needs rich owners who are prepared to put money in, and a good manager who can get a team together.
We have a strict wage structure, and we are sticking to it.
Doug King is not funding a promotion push.

You’re absolutely insane if you believe King would call that a “Total failure”. Honestly some of the crap you spout sometimes.

King wants a promotion season and we aren’t winning both cups.

true I used to love having a row to myself and leaving the pub 15 mins before ko

however the new breed of fans along with social media you will naturally get pressure with marketing ploys, money spent and so on

Yep, and that why the atmosphere has plummeted.

In 2021/21 it was the best atmosphere in the country.

Yesterday was atrocious.

I do think if robins actually picked our best team we’d have the ability to put some results together
