Not much time, but I've only just spotted this..... City v Wolves from 1975 highlights on ITV4 at 10.30. (Might be on iplayer later?)
The big match was the name of the show, it had finished by the 90s. Sky had exclusive rights to show live top flight football (and highlights) from 92 onwards and BBC had rights to show highlights only. The big match revisited never seems to get past the 80s. I assume don't have rightd to any 90s footy?
Sure I remember watching Liverpool Vs West ham on big match in 1990. Ended nil nil but I was looking forward to it so much. Grobblear was playing. The big match was the name of the show, it had finished by the 90s. Always remember from childhood the small light blue 'disabled cars' by the corner flag, and there they were in the brief highlightsDave Thomas (QPR) looked good!!! Hilarious when the QPR defender went down and he was hauled off by the goal keeper and physio, no stretcher!!
Loved seeing the old Highfield Road, could almost smell the place!!!
Mr Perpetual Motion, who alongside Terry Yorath did the spadework and made it possible for that team to play with such crazy attacking flairAnd a young Barry Powell playing for Wolves...turned into a quality Sky Blues player of course in the late 70s
I looked at his career stats...a good return goal-wise for a midfielder, but sadly his time at Cov was his career highlight...after leaving, it never really worked out for him...maybe injuries were a factor ?Mr Perpetual Motion, who alongside Terry Yorath did the spadework and made it possible for that team to play with such crazy attacking flair
