I see Forest have signed Jonathan Panzo - weren’t we apparently after him in our heads?

What you reckon you would get for a million?
I think Gyokeres was bought for around a million and Hamer was around 1.5 million or so (close enough). COH was free.

Maybe sometimes the right players for the right money are not available .. January window can be a strange one .. or are people saying we should just go out and spend for the sake of it

Quite clever arent they?

Couple of days before deadline 'we've rejected substantial bids'

Gets passed deadline without improving squad

Loads of fans: 'great window managing to hold onto our best players'...

None on here saying that.

I presume it’s a good thing we didn’t sell Ohare Hamer sheaf or gyokeres????
Correct. But i am sceptical there was any interest and it was only mentioned to appease fans as we werent going to strengthen this window

It's obviously a good thing. But do you honestly believe that any received definitive interest from clubs? If they had I'd wager a sale would've probably been made.

It's not like we were swatting away bids left, right and centre. Unless you naively believe Boddy's narrative.

Congratulating the club on not farming out players in the January window is an odd position to take.

How many of the players loaned out will be under contract for next season, could we still be stuck with most of them

I think Walker, Hilsner and Dacosta will still be under contract post summer.

Most of our outgoing loans won't generate much in terms of savings but by loaning them out, it at least gives them a greater opportunity to find a more permanent solution in the summer as they'll actually get a chance of playing at their respective clubs. Better that than doing zilch here.

All this lack of any sign of ambition does is says to all those fair-weather fans who've turned up fairly regularly this season that there is nothing to be too optimistic about. So, that record number of season tickets sold won't be bettered next season. That average gate will peter off. That chance to make the play offs will fizzle out.

I'm hope I'm wrong of course but it just feels a bit deflating.

This is the kind of post I don't understand. We've improved incrementally each year for several years in a row yet people are queuing up to assert that it's this season or never, and predict with confidence that relegation next season or soon after is the inevitable consequence if we stay in this league. All posts on those lines are ignoring all evidence to the contrary and seemingly based in impatience and nothing else. I understand there's an opportunity this year but let's not pretend anyone predicted that opportunity would be here. No way of telling how competitive the league will or won't be next year.

And it's your kind of post that I don't understand. There's always a ceiling and at some point the progress will come to a grinding halt. We're simply not going to continually improve season after season. That POV is unrealistic and completely unsustainable. All it takes is one bad window and the house of cards will come crumbling down.

At some point the bubble will pop.

So we’ve got crowds surpassing what was initially budgeted. Record season ticket sales. Moved 7(?) off the wage bill, with Portsmouth taking on the lion’s share of Walker’s wage as one of the top earners. Yet all we could muster was Bidwell? Maybe they’re extending the fence all the way to Keresley.

Pessimism vs. Empiricism. I get it, but Robins and his staff have earned some trust and while I agree that we need more in attack, I've not seen a single name mentioned moving elsewhere that would've been realistic and fitted our system.

Thinking about it this window is it that bad, we signed one permanent for a position we needed, we shifted a few not used players out and sold no main men. Looking at the rest in our league most their newbies are loans do they make them better ? We will see.I’m not too worried.

Every fan has trust in Robins that's a ridiculous arguement to make. It's not about trust a lack of trust it's about what's attainable and what's realistic. Better managers than Robins have had poor windows with budgets far bigger than his.

Fans who peddle this arguement need to extract their heads from the sand sharpish.
