I think its believable that he's training with us and if we see he still might have something to offer as a short term addition to the squad we'd do it. I'd say it's probable it doesn't go beyond the training phase and even if it does its not going to be our marquee signing and signal a huge change in recruitment strategy.

Accepting we're not making top 6 this season, if he does sign and Rak-Saki signs as well, is the midfield actually that bad between now and the summer? I'd rather we find better in this window but Jan is tough.

Sorry but when I’ve seen him he’s been mostly ineffectual. He’s scored a slight flick off his shin that was pretty much going in and an offside tap in. He’s missed multiple sitters. And he’s never had Wan Bissaka on toast. He was OK in the spurs game

He’s in need of a full pre-season - I can’t imagine he’d be here for any reason other than to make up the numbers in training and maybe try and get a deal elsewhere in the summer.

If Paterson is just coming for depth (from a brief look at his stats he can play CM/LW/RW/ST) it's not the worst thing in the world. If he's the Jan headline it's a bit depressing though.
