What a mad season, we’ve been dire for most of it, now 6 points off the play offs, won 4 on the trot and got sheaf, EMC, wright and grimes to come in, seems a shame to have to change the starting 11, just started to find something , hope it doesn’t upset the team too much but you can’t leave those four out when they’re available, not a bad problem for Lampard to have,

Being at that point in your mid-20s tells you which way it's going to go long-term.
Not really, he was brought in as a low cost punt for us. Been unlucky with injuries so never got going, we have certainly outgrown him. We should have let him go before really.

There is no reason why he can't forge a decent career elsewhere. He's got pace and can finish, confused the fuck out of that Man United defence with his unorthodox style. I've seen plenty of players with less talent than him have full football league careers.

Fair enough but I don't agree. He's mid 20s and never played first team football consistently. He'll do well to have a career in League 2, IMO.

Played a fair bit for Rochdale didn't he. Hes not had a chance here, probably a step too big especially to learn the game. He'll be fine if he gets a run of games somewhere.

The first report earlier in the week said we’d had 2 bids rejected too. It’s been going on for longer than expected, now the cat is out of the bag, @Jimmy87 was this the CM you referred to when saying we were speaking to a ‘RB & CM?’
I honestly never had a name on this one. He said Lampard had been told he would be backed for the right players, and that talks with the CM and RB would be for permanent. Loans where possible.
He will give me names when it comes to possible outgoings, he's not as cryptic.
I think i'm in the same boat as Saddle here, sometimes he'll give me a name, other times just position / age etc. It really depends on how long we've been talking with them. I just know the talks had been going on for a while before window opened. We have a good relationship with the agent, player was keen.
Great signing, interestingly i notice Swansea possibly in for Peterborough lad, we had an option on him. I think we are aiming for the right type of players. If we want to make the step up, we need to make choices like this.

To be fair to him, King is obviously serious about going for promotion.

Is it only the RB position we are looking to fill before the window shuts ?

Yeah, that's a fair assessment. I'm neutral when it comes to King. I've seen the good things he has done / is doing. He's obviously stuck to his word by backing him, heard it's rising to £4m with add ons, so that is a statement. Obviously we can't just buy all the time so the books will have to balance eventually. Interest has grown in BTA towards the end of the window but no substantial bids as yet. I'd actually like it if we could hang on to him this window. I'm glad we rebuffed Blackburn's loan approach for Kitching too, he's made a big difference.

I was told at the Watford game that the RB talks had broken down for a permanent move but the CM was going well. He said still a possibility of a loan, and also that interest in BTA was growing.

The Peterborough lad will be a great signing in 2-3 years time. With some of the players we’ve got in the squad, we need to add players that are in a position to help us ‘win now’.

Grimes is a profile of midfielder that can immediately help us get results. He’s got a lot of attributes that are missing in the squad at the minute.

With Haji, Sheaf and EMC coming back in a few weeks, it’s going to feel like a top championship team.

The interest in BTA should tell us that he’s not a bad player and we should probably keep him. Letting him go and having Basette as the only deputy ST would be a bad move.

BTA was a MR signing and if Lampard wants another profile instead, then I wouldn’t mind if we sold him in the summer as long as the replacement we line up is quality.

Maybe its just time to accept he's a pretty decent owner isn't it. Night and day to the previous cunts.

Yeah, but it still amazes me that people swallow the kool aid and rather than judge each action in its own right just defend everything he does.

But this is, a great bit of business so I don't think many will take issue.

I don't know, he's obviously not good enough for the level we're at (and has been very unlucky with injuries at crucial times, as others have said), but I think he's shown he's got the qualities to be a decent player in L1 or 2 in the right set-up.

He's tactically disciplined, has intelligent movement, decent technique and genuine pace, and most importantly, he looks as if he's got genuine composure in front of goal.

His main problem is that he's a bit lightweight, but I think he could be a decent sniffer in the box type player in the right team.

I completely agree with this. I don't see why the strikers have to be pitted off against each other all the time, they are each useful in their own way and we should just back them all. We could have sold Gyokeres and signed one complete finished article but we would have paid the price for that. Selling him has allowed us to bring in not just Wright and Simms but BTA and Bassette too. We will find the right balance eventually.
The coaching staff are starting to get a tune out of them, without Wright and EMC.
When we have them all back fit, we will have to use all of them as they won't dive straight in to playing 90 minutes, so if we can hang on to him, that would definitely be a good thing.
In Grimes it seems we now have a player who is not afraid to pick a forward pass too, the strikers have been crying out for this all season.

Jimmy, without being one of those on here who beg for news...

What's your pals thoughts on Rapha? Will a loan be am option or is he closer to the first team picture than we think. Certainly the club media love showing his skills in the unseen videos

All i've heard about him is that he is very well thought of in training. The new coaches like him, and he puts in maximum effort. I heard he was quicker in a foot race than MVE which is interesting.
It's a shame he suffered quite an unpleasant injury and then got an impact injury in training upon his return. He's now back to near full fitness so i'm guessing it won't be too long until we see more of him, with us playing the formation we are currently though, we may have to be patient. He's very young but not intended for u21's from what i've heard.

He's done a lot more right than wrong though hasn't he. Even if he doesn't get us up you have to think we're a far more interesting proposition to potential new owners than we were.

It's really weird that people have to keep asking people about King, honestly, in decades of going to football I've never seen anything like it.

Ife said in numerous posts he a much better owner than sisu but its not enough, you cant criticise him at all. Its incredibly strange
