It’s Raphael. Need to get him minutes in the 1st team asap.
I was surprised he did not get anytime on Saturday, yes he's an unknown quantity and we were chasing the game, but I believe that could've worked in our favour as Milwall wouldn't have known how to defend against him.

I know he hasn't had much match time and in the 1st team he's had nothing, but if he's on the bench he must surely be capable of 20mins or so.

Was definitely tactical against Millwall

We knew they were only going to counter so pushed Bidwell high to try and overload the left and MvE tucked in to cover

People will still complain about him not getting forward though

Don’t get that decision. Bidwell is better at the back and MvE up front and we had no left winger in the side.

I think we need a suitable rotational option with Sakamoto as he will need a rest at some point and we dont have adequate cover on the right somehow so right wingers I think would be a good option to sign:

- Anders Dreyer (26) Anderlecht

A very very good winger that scores goals that we were ‘linked’ with in the summer (by a bullshit website) but his attacking stats are really good and averages 5 crosses per 90, would cost a good chunk of change however would be very much worth it.

- Jarne Steuckers (22) Genk

Put up some good numbers for the belgian side this season a new arrival so will cost a lot but his ball progression numbers are class and can play as a CAM and LW so covers a few positions, only issue would be that he’s a new arrival so probably wont want to move this quickly after joining a club.

- Jonathon Ikone (26) Fiorentina

Not been at his best this or last season, former French international and out of contract in 2026 so maybe could get a cheaper deal and at his best he can be an unreal player, this mainly comes down to FL as to how I think we could bring him in potentially a loan to buy dependent on promotion which he could probably get us into the playoffs if he reaches anywhere near the levels he was a few years ago.

- Kayky (21) Manchester City

Out on loan to Rotterdam, not played too much but perhaps we could take him on loan and be backup to Tats as he has a lot of potential. Good ball carrier with a bit of flair and skill, just need to unlock his potential.

- Tahith Chong (25) Luton

We know his quality and he’s in a struggling Luton side perhaps we could tempt him into a move back to the midlands, would be a really good asset.

- Daan Pots (23) Twente

Had a really good season for Twente last year registering 10 assists and 7 goals in 33 games this year only 3 assists without the goal but still a really creative force with an average of 2.00 key passes per 90 and a 45% cross completion out of contract in August 2025 (but a 1 year option).

- Ahmed Qasem (21) Elfsborg

Put up some good numbers in Sweden, a good dribbler and puts lots of crosses into the box definitely got a lot of potential not short either standing at 6ft could add a bit more height to the right hand side as well as the technical ability we already have.

- Jed Wallace (30) West Brom

Yes he’s older but we need a bit of experience and he can play in the 10 role so when his legs go he can play more central for us, as WBA may need to sell in January and because of his age we might be able to get him cheap

Lampard will have limited leeway in Jan. I’d be amazed if he spends anything on wide positions with the issues we have defensively and in midfield

We’ve only got Saka at the moment. We desperately need an alternate RW unless it’s going to be Raphael

So if rumours that’s Lampard wants four with two perm and two loans this would be my realistic window.

Liam Lindsay (Perm) - Out of contract this summer, Club Captain for Preston. Can play on both right and left meaning we can rotate his playing partner. Would provide good experience for our CBs. Would sign for up to 2 Million.

Kai Wagner (Perm) - Release clause makes him very appealing. Got some high assist numbers and is defensively very solid. Would allow MVE to play higher up.

Luke Cundle (Loan) - Avaliable for loan and a player Rhys Carr would know. Plays a 8/10. Seen as a creative player who could help unlock defenders. Provides competition for Rudoni in the ten as I think Torp struggled in this role.

Josh Bowlers (Loan) - Right winger with a left foot. Struggled this year but got good goals and assists last year at this level. Would provide competition with Sakamoto and more experience around the squad. Likely to be avaliable in the summer so could be a loan to buy. Think would suit us a lot based on how he plays

Transfers out

Liam Kitching - Needs to be playing games. Would attempt to sell to make way for Liam. If not, loan to get him in the shop window.

Jay Dasilva - Again selling to make way for Kai. Don’t think he suits a team without wingbacks. Good lad but would look to sell or at least loan. Do think a couple of league one sides would be interested.

Fabio Tavares - Seemingly on his way out. This is more for him than us as he needs to go and get first team football for his sake. Would release him if it meant he got to go reading. If not look to sell

Most of the games I've seen Chong play he's been through the middle, he's also on about £30k per week at Luton. And "he's in a struggling Luton side" that checks notes, are only 3 points behind us.

Surely that’s what Raphael would be, fingers crossed he turns out to be good.

I honestly would like to see MVE trialed higher up one game if we actually had a back up RB

It looks like one hell of a summer ahead , for Frank to shape a proper team , into getting leaders on the pitch & this time address properly the spine of our team ?

Are leaders on the pitch becoming more and more rare ? Look at Man City, Man United, Villa, Brighton, etc etc not able to drag the team out of a poor run of form. Yet they have very experienced proven internatiomal players in the team.

Don’t get me wrong I’d love to see 1 or 2 overt leaders on the pitch but they have to be good enough. Lati talks as well as most on the pitch but its not enough without the capability to be one of the teams better players. We saw this with Fadz, Godden, Kelly etc it doesn’t matter how good a pro they are if they are not a top 6 Championship player it doesn’t really help the team.

Those players did help the team to finish in the top 6 of the Championship. Stop rewriting history.

I was referring to last season. We still have fans saying we were wrong to let them go when we did. Which is nonsense.
To be honest, I disagree I see where you’re coming from but football isn’t all about what you do on the pitch and there is a lot of things we don’t see.

Take the changing room talks, the training days etc etc.

Having pros to offer information in training, to put there arm around people, get the team together and simply help the manager enforce standards is a huge part of the game (look at Faz at Blackburn coaching the defence from the subs bench).

You’re right in the sense you want these players on the pitch ideally but having them at the club can also pay dividends.

I agree to a point. However if they can’t do it on the pitch then their impact is diluted.
