I would argue we’ve spent a lot of money on this squad compared to other squads

Where would our spending put us compared to the other non parachute teams. I’d assume we would have spent more than sides like Boro or Ipswich last year?

If not fair enough but my understanding is we’ve spent high, got low and now we need to know whether or not to keep spending especially now we’re we haven’t apparently got any internal funds.

And I’d argue none of those teams had a L1 squad with two world class players. Don’t look just at this and last seasons spending but spending over four or five years would probably be more accurate.

Honestly his record and decision making since taking over is abysmal and our league position is reflection of his decisions.

Interfered in transfer policy and did some horrendous transfer business

Demanded a cup run with derailed our play off push and took no responsibility for it

Failed to appoint a new assistant after Viveash left

Questionable sacking of a manager who had improved us every season before Kings arrival followed by a questionable appointment of a 'name'

King has overseen a constant decline since he took over, from a play off finish he had 0% influence or input on. He took us to a lower finish the next season and is looking to take us to an even lower finish this season.

Remember when Robins said he frequently warned Doug about FFP and sustainability?

But more importantly - this isn't actually a problem. Whilst I am slightly worried that the owner might be falling out of love with the club, not letting debts spiral should be welcomed given where we have been. No doubt it will make things difficult improving the squad but if thats where we are - that is where we are. We have a few saleable assets that we probably wouldn't miss that much and so far money has been reinvested - that is a huge step up on the SISU days.

Right. That’s how companies work as they’re separate entities.

No different to me using £50k of my own money for my company. That would essentially be a £50k loan to the company.

Point remains though that Sheaf aside we’ve basically built an entire squad for £45m so like for like with those who have been in the division a while you’ve got to look a bit longer term at their entire squad cost.

I’m not convinced that anything has changed with King’s aspirations for us to be honest.

But he can do no right. If he is in the media too much, he’s a narcissist and an egomaniac. If he’s not heard from for a couple of weeks he’s a coward.

I don’t think he is exempt from criticism and he has made mistakes but the way some people criticise is hilarious.

It’s unlikely he will. Whats more likely is that he will defer further and defer with interest.

I can’t rightly judge his spending with Sisus.

We have to look back at his tenure when making judgements on our spending under Doug. That means over the 5 windows we’ve spent a lot if not all of our returns.

If in the next 7 windows we don’t spend a penny maybe it’ll balance out but it’s still a lot especially over two and a half years

No it is King. He’s tighter than a nuns chuff and unwilling to put his own money in, just money that he’s earnt through player sales.

He could quite easily put £5m in, in advance of player sales in the summer

All of the transfer income was Kings. He owns all the assets. I’m amazed some fans still don’t understand the basics.

He could easily have pocketed 80% of the income himself, derisked his ownership and Robins 20% to invest.

He didn’t.

The net spend will low to mid table at a guess tho?

I think we've done a bit of a Tottenham, remember when the sold Bale for stacks and bought in Soldado, Chadli and various other dossers?

During Doug's tenure and focusing on transfers alone you are probably right, but in terms of wage bill and continued investment we are (probably) still nowhere near Boro - they pick up a lot of free transfers and big money loans alongside spending a decent whack on players. Can't really expect Doug to Gibson it though - not a lot of owners do that.

Our spend is all a bit skewed by the two massive sales and the small number of players on the books after the play offs. You would imagine our wage bill is top half at least now though. And what can you say about Ipswich - that's not a model I think we could adapt and repeat!

The strategic report mentions that further funding is available, if required.

He would be unlikely to call it in though, and if he did, it would not be in his interests to unless CCFC have no need to use the facility / can repay the amounts borrowed.

By that logic limitation of liability through companies doesn't exist, if he owns all the assets he owns all the liabilities? is King on the hook for all of the club's debts if it folds?

Some people were saying at the time it would be nice if the owner put even half of the sales into funds for the manager. How quickly people forget...

Either way, we are in pretty good shape atm. Will be interesting to see 31/05/24 accounts.

If you play that logic, if we were to continue spending this amount over five years we would be spending £112,500,000 that’s the 45,000,000/2 X 5.

We can only judge the last two years where we have spent a fortune and got relatively no closer to the goal. Why would a rethink and revaluation be the end of the world?

Genuinely not sure if serious.

Most teams don’t build entire squads over two seasons. Most incrementally build them. So comparing a team that’s done a full rebuild with an incremental rebuild is apples and oranges.
