Do you want to borrow my glasses. Torp is technically very good but needs to build up his strength and stamina to properly compete in this league. Will turn into a very good acquisition.
He's been here almost a year now, if he hasn't managed to get fit and build stamina by now, i'd say it's unlikely to happen. He is technically good but can only manage 60 minutes a game.

Blimey, Sheaf is our best out of form player by a mile. Can't understand the pile on. If we had anyone close to his level he'd be dropped but we simply haven't
He's the captain. Very little in it between him and Eccles at the moment.
In fact Eccles might be better.

To be fair thought to have a look at bens stats this year and tbh a lot are really good. Hes not been at his best but his okay is still really good.

Coming back from a injury and no preseason is difficult just got to keep playing him and get the confidence and match sharpness back to him

His technique is as good as Hamer but he just doesn't have that explosiveness which is what really sets Hamer apart
That's a bit of a mad take.
Hamer is great at pushing against a defence and slipping a clever ball through. He has such a quick brain and range of passing. Also has good shooting and tackling.
He's an absolute class above.

I think 1-2 signings in January. Nothing major.

I'm gonna start completely ignoring the Jds stuff. He was clearly good yesterday but all people remember is the goal conceded cos they have already made their mind up about him and nothing will change that

Him and bidwell can both be upgrade dulon but I see that happening in the summer

He was good on the ball I agree. He always just seems a little poor in 1v1 situations compared with Bidwell.

Twice yesterday; one for the goal where he got sent to the shops and before that he did okay to put off the striker, but the striker still managed to get the shot off and on target.

He was good going forward but he once again had a couple of poor moments that lead to threatening situations - one of which was a goal.

He's just not very good defensively, that's not having an agenda, he just isn't.

I don't disagree with that though

People saying he was turd yesterday are wrong though. His quick one two passing was good and he did make tackles and get forward.

I won't argue he gets caught out and targeted but his 90 min performance was good overall

Going forward he actually linked play really nicely yesterday and in terms of working the ball in tight situations he's probably the best in the current squad at it.

But this isn't a five a side league. His primary job is to defend and he just doesn't have the tools or ability to be able to do that job on a consistent basis across a 90 minute game.

Once again I have no issue with him being moved on eventually but I'm just saying his match performance tends to be better than some make out simply cos they don't want him in that position ideally.

It's the same with Collins yesterday though. Most thought he had a pretty decent game yet because he's generally a crap GK posters will just outright refuse to acknowledge that.

For some, it's hard to give kudos to players that are consistently underperforming.

It shouldn't be hard though. These are posters are adults remember

I'd argue that his first job is to defend, and he's pony at defending, when he plays we continuously concede routine goals to crosses from our left hand side.
He's obviously being targeted by opposition managers as being our weak link.

Yesterday was a classic example, he didn't get close enough to the cross for Hull's goal even though he had 2 opportunities to do so.
He's also too short to be effective in the air, and not strong enough physically in the tackle, and if that isn't bad enough, his positional sense is awful. He and Binks don't seem to have a clue where each other should be.

This isn't a pile on on him it's just an observation of his defending ability.

You really think he’s as good technically?

I’m sorry this is such shite.

He didn’t stop a cross, but the keeper who went awol and the CBs who stood watching the ball don’t get a mention?

He was fine yesterday and if you’re coming out with complaints like that it’s because you’re desperately looking to justify the opinion you already held.

Given the state of your posts recently I don't even know why I'm bothering responding as you're an uneducated nobody at the best of times but recently you've gone down a complete rabbit hole of pure idiocy which frankly is impressive.

Not much fault can be directed towards the CBs as once it came off the bar following the header it bounced 5 yards in front of them. Too static? Possibly, but it couldn't have really landed more perfectly for Pedro so not sure what they could've done to prevent the goal.

Collins couldn't do anything for the goal. He was sucked in slightly by the cross but at that range the ball was going in 9 times out of 10.

MVE was also a culprit as he allowed whoever headed the ball to get across him and didn't even attempt at clearing the ball.

Yeah I also thought he was good. Still partially culpable for the goal though,
alongside MVE, which I what I alluded to in my earlier post. He does get shit on here even when he’s had a really tidy half of football. He can misplace a pass and people go off it.

I maintain that 1v1s are the weakest aspect of his game.

Like almost every goal we’ve conceded this season at least 4/5 defenders were poor. People just pick on the one they like least (Bobby Thomas for me).

There's something in this but Thomas is literally the best one so it's a strange pick. He'll survive the eventual cull of the defence before the rebuild, I can't say the same for most the others I don't think.

Exactly. He’s been the first pick for two successive managers for a reason.

Agreed. As a generality, volume of business in January is often minimal and what there is often panicky and ill advised. We have two urgent needs in defence in the manner of a Hamer and a McFadzean respectively.

The latter could be a loan of an experienced old pro like John Egan from whom our young tyros can learn a trick or two. That might overcome King's dislike of loans by giving them some sort of strategic justification

Things like fullbacks can wait until summer. We are scoring goals, have invested in youth and have Wright to come back
