It's that time of year folks what's the prediction with our lovely owners?

Sell? Buy? Loan? Nothing?

Personally I think we need 3 players to make a genuine push for the playoffs

Pressley has stated we need to move quickly, so I can definitely see some coming in. I think we need a CB (whether that's Seabourne or someone else, we need to sign atleast one up), a midfielder who can come into the team and make a positive impact, unlike Barton seems to manage, and a back up striker, one who knows it will be difficult to budge Wilson and Clarke from the starting 11, but will take any chances with both hands and give Pressley a headache!

Only realistic outgoing player I can see is Christie. He hasn't been in his normal form of late and I'd rather get a few thousand for him rather than lose him for a compensation payment in the summer. Those payments aren't always guaranteed to be worthwhile so I'd accept a decent offer for him in January. Phillips looks like he can step up where required, or Clarke could move back out to RB (although then we'd need to sign 2 decent CB's if he went back to RB)

Dagnell tweeted after the last game to say he has one more to play before returning. What's the chances of him returning to Barnsley only to play (and score) against us?? :whistling:

I think that will be it for Seabourne, although he was the most likely to sign for us permanently the way Pressley was speaking

all the pressley talk was about people coming in as we have a paper thin squad,

nothing concrete yet, but "working on a few things"

1 of Leon Clarke or Wilson will leave, and so will christie. We may find it difficult to offload Barton and Manset.

I have no doubt there will be Championship clubs trying to get Leon Clarke in January. He is scoring plenty, but he is hardly known for his loyalty to any club. Anyone who is a bit short of goals would be certain to have him on their radar.

It is likely a Championship club would double or treble his wages and no doubt his agent would be made fully aware of any interest. That, plus a decent offer to the club, would probably get hold of him. Players don't think like fans, they are just looking at their careers and the bottom line.

It could be that the best way for City to keep him is for him to get a 3-week injury on Saturday. Otherwise he is such an obvious target.

I doubt Clarke will go to a championship club tbh, he hasn't been successful in the championship before and he is nearing age 29 now. If Clarke leaves it will probably be to a team like Preston. I can see Wilson attracting interest from the league above though as he is still very young.

Christie will probably choose to run his contract down now and then people will blame SISU for letting our best players leave for free.

You say that, fair enough this time it's different. But what about letting Westwood and gunarrson etc leave for free? That was their fault.

People in football can have short memories, so I do think there will be suitors for Leon Clarke. He is in the form of his life and someone will want to take a punt. It's all so short term too, so a manager may see Clarke as the man to keep him in a job. Their alternatives may be an even worse bet.

As for Christie, it's a fine line. If he has a chance of a big club now he will probably take it, as an awful lot can change between now and the end of the season. He could get injured, hit poor form, his new club can have a change of mind/manager. You have to take the opportunities when they present themselves. It's difficult for the selling club as they are unlikely to keep the player whatever they do. And don't underestimate the role of the agents in these deals!

Yes they didn't want to offer them new deals till it was to late, after all with 1-2 years left on their contracts you need to tie players up that are worth anything. If they don't them bye bye for cash.

I agree with you, we should have got them signed up to long term deals at an earlier point or sold them before those players decided to run their contract down. We could have got maybe 1-1.5 mill for Gunnarsson and possibly 2.5 million for Westwood at one point

The current situation at the club is not exactly conducive to holding on to players.. only a small chance of promotion this year & next year is uncertain at best.

Yea I guess, possibly a lowly team like Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley, Millwall could take a punt on him to save them from relegation

Think we will lose one of Leon or Callum, Christie will go and think there may be offers for Fleck. All depends on how much our owners want to back our team and it's manager and stay true to their word (stop laughing) and build for the future or whether they want to make a quick buck to try and stem the bleeding. As for players coming in, I am sick of loans and frees, want to see real commitment with decent players signed for the positions we need like a CB or a holding midfielder.

Who signed Mansett ? Can't believe It was Presley

Agree with the thoughts above....it will be an interesting window possibly leaving us weaker than stronger.

If we can bring two in and only lose Christie I would be very happy.

Another opportunity for Sisu to build bridges but I think they may not - be well chuffed if Pressley is supported in the way that he sees is appropriate

Marlon King is available after getting released by Sheff UTD. I just hope they don't sell either Clarke/Wilson and bring him back as a replacement.

Off load Christie (otherwise nothing in summer) Barton, Manset. Dagnall soon to return and I wouldn't bother bringing him back. Seaborne now suspended for 3matches but I would try and sign him permanently. We have to try and keep Wilson, Clarke L and Fleck in all honesty. We need at least 3 players in. A Centre half, versatile midfielder/winger and another striker.

So, how do you think Pressly's done in the transfer market?

As far as I can see all his best players are ones that were already here when he came? Either Academy prospects or Thorn or Robbins signings.

PS Baker signed even before them.. by Coleman I think.

it will all be down to a meeting between our owners ,if clubs offer money for anyone inc sp ,they will be sniffing at the money,to be honest id think the owners will be looking at loses at Northampton ,no real chance of gates improving ,the way things are going, no sniff at the playoffs ,they may take any offers on the table and just see the season out

Clarke has been there not done it.

If i was a championship team, I would be looking at Wells from Bradford who has done it for more than 6 months, or the youngester on loan at MK Dons, Bamford.

Thing is, both would command a hefty fee, and I wonder if SISU would hold out for Wilson like Bradford would for Wells

I was sat behind a Crystal Palace scout at the Oldham game. He was taking notes on Joe Murphy. Whether that turns into anything concrete is another question.

I think this is likely - sell Clarke (King's replacement) for £1.5mm and bring in King for free.

Bamford's meant to be joining Derby on loan

I like Murphy and think he is a very good keeper at this level and possibly lower champ, but upper championship and PL no chance.

A tribunal payment could be more than a Jan offer, the risk for me is that Celtic or Rangers come calling where there would be no tribunal fee as outside of English football.

I'm not so sure now with the implementation of the EPPP, compensation payments are going to get smaller. You're right about the risk of Celtic or rangers though. Can't are us getting anymore than £350k through a tribunal.
