My concern is Robins seemed to run a mile from the idea of two up front recently. Been saying in interviews “it’s not us” and defending one up against Wycombe etc.
Fair enough if that’s what he wants to play, but if he does buying Walker was a massive waste of everyone’s time.

I understand we can't play 2 up every match .
That's a given to me
Why?
We have one AM in the entire squad we trust to get on the pitch. One ST means just two attacking players and you get what we’ve got: isolation and a compressed back line/midfield.
If he wants to play one up IMO we need to play O’Hare and Györkeres as wide forwards in a three. One way or another you need at least three attacking players on the pitch, if not four or five.
Certain formations and teams will overload the middle and beat us comfortably if we take the extra man out.. if we had better players I'd agree with you , we could play 2 up every week to offset as we'd have a better defence ..but with us conceding silly goals we should adjust to each team accordingly
But we play with a target man. If you aren’t going to utilise JCH in that role then you’re sticking him at CM or something, or you’re changing the shape of the team to fit him in.

To be fair , we've looked terrible at times with 2 up too .We should learn from Barnsley's approach to games-play to your strengths against everyone and accept the defeats against the best sides in the division.
I think my main point is that defence isn’t just having loads of defenders on the pitch but can also be having the ball away from your goal for extended periods.
Have four midfielders and two wingbacks if you want, but don’t make all bar one of them defensive minded. I’d rather Jamie Allen even in the two behind the striker. Anyone with an attacking mindset. Hamer is not an AM.
Let's be honest , we had the chances against Luton and Wycombe to make them totally different matches .This I agree with.
I don't think the formation has been the issue in the last couple of games, it was the choice of personnel in that midfield (and the selection of Biamou as the striker). Although I certainly wouldn't call Hamer "defensive minded" he's definitely better operating from deeper.
If we're to play the box it has to be Hamer + Kelly or James as the deeper 2 with O'Hare + 1 (Allen imo) as the CAMs.

Surely people realise by now that we aren't really that much better ...the main factor in our league position really has been the loss of our two main strikers for extended periods and our captain.
I'd argue we had a fully fit squad for most the season we'd be sat about 15th and not worrying about relegation

Would you agree it's very reasonable to suggest that with both our main strikers fit this season we'd have more points , I think it's a fair assumptionWe aren't better at all as Biamou simply can't play in a two. He lacks the positional awareness and often finds himself being dragged into strange positions which then subsequently isolates his striking partner.
However, as other posters have said it'll be interesting how a Godden and Walker partnership will look.

I would agree, though we have been our own worst enemies defensively.
And this must be frustrating , knowing that you've set up correctly as a manager and your team had made something ridiculous like 20 individual errors and hit the woodwork nearly 20 times ..
Don't get me wrong he's got things wrong , but you can't really stop the things your players do during those 90 minutes
Haha, yeah sure!I bet the Sheffield United fans were saying the same when they let McNulty go on a free and he ended up scoring 28 goals for us
Max was ahead of JCH in the pecking order explains a lot reallyYou still haven't answered my question G, who was the starter in League 2 JCH or Mcnulty?
One good thing about this is that it shows we dont rely on penalties like some teams, I like to annoy my mate who is a United fan calling Bruno and Manchester United pen merchants but moving on, if you think about it we have shown we can score goals that are not handed to us on a plate (well other than Max as much as I like him)

I suspect selfies were never a JCH thing
JCH 44 ap 8 gls
Max 90 ap 13 gls
Pretty even apart from a lot of Max's appearances have been in Championship this season.
Both are below standard. Dont embarrass youself anymore with the Max hate and the JCH love. Both are your illogical extremes.
Neither were with usYeah guess Max is being touted for £5 million

I dont know just trying to get something good from a bad situationWhat?
Then that must be the reason surely although he used to smile alot as wellI suspect selfies were never a JCH thing
