So - are you saying every time Mowbray takes a player off that player in mowbrays opinion is woeful?

If stokes starts next game do you think he believed Haynes was even more woeful?

Do you think Mowbray has been wrong to believe stokes is superior to Haynes defensively?
I believe stokes is better defensively than haynes, doesnt mean he is good enough though, the fact stokes was pulled off suggests mowbray knew he needed the better attacking full back on to try and get the 3 points.Stokes distribution is painful at times ...Fact

Phillips was targeted first half, long ball down his flank every time. Peterborough missed a great chance when Phillips got fairly muscled to the floor

No they singled him as the weakness and ruined us first half down the left, murphy wasnt blame free though i admit

Think he did miss Reda who hails him out on the odd occasion & usually puts a crunching tackle or 2 in on the wideman.

But I really felt for Stokes today with the performance of the man in front of him in that first half.
I geneuinely can't get my head around Murphy was very very odd to see a pro completely lose his head like that just wandered around, wasn't thinking, interested, even his corners were like a stroppy child kicking a ball he didn't want to kick.

The fact is Haynes lived down to expectations with another dire performance.

Grendel , you are a person who claimed reda was pretty average every week and persistently singled him out,we have conceded 4 goals in the 2 games without him ,excuse me if i take your very high opinion of stokes with a pinch of salt

Odd. I am merely saying that the manager sees stokes as capable and more capable than Haynes.

Johnson is average but average is bettor than Phillips who was he defender targeted today,

Oh and we have conceded goals when Saint Reda was in the team. Stokes needs a Facebook or Twitter account as that surpasses football ability with the clueless masses round here.

Grendel your problem is if anyone disagrees with your opinion you out it fown to them being clueless.

I thought stokes was alright today personally. Think sub was tactical. But we defo miss reda. U got that one so wrong. Take it on chin. None of us are perfect.

Stokes is already on twitter

He needs to up it then - he doesn't have the kudos of Johnson, edjuingele or baker who all created hero status through social media and not by on pitch delivery

Stokes has performed above expectation - but he's one poor game away from dogs abuse by the baying masses on here purely as he's from a non league background.

You posted positively and accurately earlier but now have reverted to type. Haynes was only on the pitch 14 minutes and whilst he was not outstanding, he did an ok job. Stokes was rested for Tuesday as he has an ongoing Achilles problem.

More bollox. Everybody I know has great regard for Stokes. Not our best left back ever but honest and gives 100% of his best ability in every game. I believe appreciated by the majority of fans.

Stokes has proved himself to be a capable left back at league 1 level, he does lack quality when he gets into good attacking positions but he's not the only player in the squad guilty of that

Must agree. Didn't think stokes was that bad, and Murphy is a nightmare to play behind, never tracks back, always waits for passes to reach him, etc. Looks disinterested for 70 mins then has a good last 20.

Stokes left exposed a few times first half as Murphy quite ineffectual coming back and Posh Playing some quality incisive football. What I like about stokes is he is always willing to support as we go forward. His effort is good and he is improving all the time as a full-back

The point is his energy and industry help fleck and vincelot. Without him they are over run.

Armstrong ends up wandering deep in the middle and looks lost.

When people give ratings they should look at both halves and judge accordingly.

We just will have to go with Murphy as he always seems to be capable of destroying teams at the end.

He created the goals for Armstrong but if jOB hadn't played we'd have lost.

Murphy frustrating because he seems to take 70 minutes to get going, then he destroys teams.

Been saying for a while we miss something without JOB. Kent redeemed himself a bit today for me, otherwise i like Lameiras in that role.

Kent still annoyed me, yes he runs at players but doesn't actually do anything with it. Weak shots or passes.

Stokes has been consistently improving since we signed him, even his distribution has got better, our first against Swindon was down to him putting the effort in to reach the ball and putting a good ball in the box

I thought he got more in than usual today. Bit could've been the excitement getting to me.

Starting
I think It's his pace and directness scares the shirt out of the other team and gives us Impetus.

Agreed. Frightens teams when he runs at them, but has no end product.

Armstrong was woeful in the first half - the Mowbray interview suggests he was told to start playing like a centre forward.

Mowbray told him to play behind Fortune in a number 10 role and was frustrated he was pushing on too much.

I think Armstrong is best left to lead the line as the second half proved.

One thing I will say in defence of Stokes, Phillips and Kent, there seems a lot of effort there and a will to do well.

What worries me about Murphy is, despite unquestionable ability, there seems a lack of effort and a lack of will for large chunks of the game. If he can address that he could play at the highest level, if he doesn't he is league 1 all day long.

The void between the front two and midfield
in the first half was to big
The midfield needed to drag the rest at least ten metres forward
It's not like we didn't have chances first half one where Arma hit the post, another by him saved and one from Fortune, all supplied by sweet passes of Lameiras.

Stokes took a bad tackle 5 or so minutes before being taken off, yet carried on until the ball went out, then went down looking in pain. We thought He was took off due to injury.

Yes 1st half they targeted his wing but, certainly not as bad as some would make out............probably the best fit fullback we have at the moment

No, he said he would be involved. Didn't say he would start, and I don'think he will.

I think he will be involved, and I think that involvement will take the form of playing association football. Mowbray said come along on Tuesday and see Joe Cole, he could have meant watch him warming up at half time, or wave to him as he sits in the stand. I guess we will find out what he meant in due course.

I think it may be better to start him and then bring Kent on later to make more of an impact against tired legs.
