Its hogwash everyone is out flr themselves. What if it was decided we could keep Jones but had to let Max go. What then?

Yeah but you'd play a game of football if you were told before ko that there was a 5% chance of getting an injury that needed an operation which is a more suitable analogyI wouldn’t fly in a plane it it had a 5% chance of falling out the sky
I don't think many people would if there was a 5% of such an injury in one match. You would if there was a 5% chance of it happening at some stage.Yeah but you'd play a game of football if you were told before ko that there was a 5% chance of getting an injury that needed an operation which is a more suitable analogy

I'd let the agent go.And if he scored 2 hare tricks in his first 4 games and Man Utd contact his agent?

People keep going on about pay as you play. Can anyone name any player on such a deal?
So in other words/statistically speaking, you’d be lucky to make it through half a season without tearing it again.
Similarly clubs don't have obligations to players. Just because he's been injured for three years and unable to prove his worth doesn't mean the club are duty bound to offer him a new deal just so he can have that opportunity.
On a personal note I would like to see what he can do but I think his lengthy absence has lead to another case of a player getting better in the eyes of fans the longer he doesn't play. I would offer him a pay-as-you-play deal for the year with the promise of upgrading it to a proper contract if he makes a certain number of appearances.
Are you suggesting the club, who have invested a decent amount in his recovery, along with the medical staff and Robins know more than a bunch of medical experts on a forum? No. It’s 5% over a year, not per game, normal risk is 3%. Probably higher in elite sports. Robins said 5% was normal, which tallies up.

I am not suggesting we do, but based on the fact we’ve supported him through rehab and surgeries with the best specialists available, would suggest MR believes he can offer something.
Plus, as per my post, it’s low risk, potentially high reward. He’s already on the books and in the budget, likely on a low wage compared to others, and is unlikely to find a better wage elsewhere due to his injuries, so we give him a season to prove his fitness and his ability. If it goes well he gets a better deal and we have a rejuvenated exciting attacking threat (and saleable asset if needed) and if not we let him go.
Plus Better Days said he’s getting extended so that’s that.

They also said last year the chance of injuring the knee again was minimal when it was healed, hence one of the reasons we offered him a new deal.

Which was exactly the argument used when offering him a new deal last year. Then he did his ACL again, hasn't played a single game and we're having exactly the same reasoning given again.
if if goes again I bet there would be people saying exactly the same thing again next year too - offer him a new deal and see if he can come back. How many times do we carry on doing this?
It isn't about the good games, it's about the undoubted talent that he has, speed, balance, technique, touch all worth a punt on.but but but.... he had about 10 good games in League 2, 4 years ago.
He looked very good in pre season and I think he'd have been very useful in one of the two AM slots this season, certainly better than Shipley and Allen.
Might as well offer him a new deal for what will I'm sure be very low wages and/or highly incentivised.

How can he be better than a player whose played in the championship based on a couple of pre season games?
Not exactly hard to be better then Shipley, a blow up doll caught in the wind is more useful then that clown.
He really hasn't, he was our best player in the early part of that league 2 season. Remembering that he was only 19Hes one of those players that have gotten better the less hes played.

Agreed. He was arguable the best player in the league 2 before his injury, which is why Championship Leeds were on the verge of signing him.He really hasn't, he was our best player in the early part of that league 2 season. Remembering that he was only 19

He didn't injure it again, it was the other knee. That's just exceptionally unlucky.

The other knee which he injured the year before.
