Joe Elliot Rousing Speech last night (1 Viewer)

Whilst there is no question Joe is true sky blue & only has the best interests of the club at heart, I seem to remember Joe singing the praises of a certain hedge fund. Not sure what was the Hoff's participation in bringing in SISU (if any), and to be fair had sisu stuck to Ranson's plans, I strongly suspect we would be where cardiff are now (if not better).

I just hope that with the time they have had to work on this plan, proper due diligence is carried out this time, and whoever buys the club makes it a fundamental aspect of the bid that the ground is a key part to the plan.

I genuinely hope that this time it is done right, and nobody is prefect, but not going to get carried away too much until at the very least there is a NON-sisu based organisation as preferred bidder.

Optimistic, but after 5 years of the club being ground into the once immaculate pitch, it is cautious optimisim

Just to answer the question...

At present the 'head tenant is effectively ACL acting as operator of the Stadium and all it's interest sub-leasing various parts from casino to events halls that have such things as the Davis cup tennis earlier and of course it's main tenant Coventry City Football Club, the main purpose of such a stadium being there, providing the footfall that no other business can give it. ACL are not experienced operators of such leisure facilities as has proven by their running of it till now. least of all unable to get the football club in line, over charging and falling almost foull of the bank without it's ultimate 'owners' (the council) coming to it's restructuring rescue.

The main tenant should be it's biggest and they should have the revenue rights to the stadium, operate it within the community for the community and that includes the football club for the community.
There are many ways to skin a cat but that is where the negotiating should start. There will be a premium of course and a rent but the council should be merely freeholders and landlords only to the Ricoh.
We must remember hotels, casino's will come and go but the the football club will always go on in such a City so long as it is sustainable for the people of Coventry.

There is little doubt that the club will continue to lose money unless they have income streams from outside football.

However what most 'business' people do is hive off any profitable bits and run down the loss making parts - ie in this case the football club.

Haskell has no allegiance to Coventry - Hoffman and Elliot appear to have little financial input. Who will be calling the shots? Haskell.

Who currently calls the shots and called the shots when Joe and Gary were previously involved? SISU

Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. but it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning. Henceforth Seppella's SISU will meet equally well armed, and perhaps better Sky Blue armed troops. Hence forth they will have to face in many theatres of war that superiority in the air (from Leon Clarke) which they have so often used without mercy against other, of which they boasted all round League One, and which they intended to use as an instrument for convincing all other peoples that all resistance to them was hopeless....

We mean to hold our own. I have not become Haskell's Mouthpiece in order to preside over the liquidation of the Coventry City. For that task, if ever it were prescribed, someone else would have to be found, and, under democracy, I suppose the Football League would have to be consulted. I am proud to be a member of that vast Sky Blue Army and society of fans and communities gathered in and around ancient Coventry, without which the good cause might well have perished from the face of the earth. Here we are, and here we stand, a veritable rock of salvation in this drifting world....

British and American affairs continue to prosper in Coventry, and the whole event will be a new bond between these English-speaking peoples and a new hope for football in Coventry.

I recall to you some lines of Byron, which seem to me to fit the event, the hour, and the theme:

Millions of tongues record thee, and anew
Their children's lips shall echo them, and say --
"Here, where the sword united nations drew,
Our countrymen were warring on that day!"
And this is much, and all which will not pass away.

There could be others

Paxman, are you proposing then that ccfc should be responsible for organising concerns, exhibitions and shows at the Ricoh?

Seems a strange remit for a football club.
Maybe CCFC should get involved in organising a railway station as well, since the council still seem incapable in getting a resolution to this ongoing problem.;)

Not with sisu in charge they would sell all the rails and say it was in a different :pimp: company
