Leaked lots of goals = 8th best defence in the end but only due to a poor end to the season, it'd been top 6 for the majority of it.
We kept 2-3 clean sheets in 2024 and that was after a period where we kept 6 clean sheets from PNE away after changing formation to 4-2-3-1.

You would think an experienced head would offer value. However, with 4 younger CBs in Thomas, Kitching, Binks and Lati to fill 2 starting spots, someone would need to move on.

RB we have Milan, JL, Eccles at a push and even Burroughs. LB we have a maybe staying Bidwell and Dasilva. We’re looking to recruit on the wrong side for me.
This was discussed a bit last season. Eccles does a job as a right wing back. Lati isn't really good enough at right back. In summary we need a better fall back option.

Spot on. The end of the season has clouded peoples views/judgement. When we had a settled, fit team we were pretty solid. Unfortunately the last quarter of games saw swapping around of two out of form keepers, sendings offs, injuries (defence and sheaf in front), fatigue etc…with a couple of bloopers thrown in.

Also - I would think the club are trying to plan for MVE leaving also.......forward planning.
Unless we go up this is our last season with MVE. It would make sense to sign Camara as understudy to start with him replacing him for the season after next.

Tbh the better we get the more we'll clearly become a club where you have to fight for your place. That's normal in my opinion. If he'd rather go to Preston, arguably the most bland Championship club in existence then fair play, but I can't see it.

Exactly my thoughts.

I'm not sure i agree with this bit. You wouldn't tell the guy he's a backup player nor would you tell MVE and Sakamoto they are guaranteed to start every week. You tell him he'll be coming to earn his place. On top of that i think they'll all be rotated plenty anyway.
Also he'd get a decent bit of game time anyway as he'd likely play a good amount of rb and a good amount of rw

I like to think camera would back himself to force himself in, surely. No one is ever guaranteed first team football apart from elite few.

Looking at club and upward trajectory, could be good place for camera to showcase and develop. But hey ho, again if don't want part of it, no worries.

Agree on Worrall - we won't be paying anything near those wages, but he's type we need, perhaps someone touch older who's happy to play circa 20 games a year, as you say Thomas has high ceiling and just needs to iron out to inconsistent games.
Worrell isn't going to want to only play 20 games a year though

If we sign a RB and a CB I would agree. However, Kitching is already out for the opening game, which leaves us with Thomas & Binks starting, Lati on the bench. Any of those 3 pick up an injury then we've got no CB cover on the bench.

When we end up with our mid week games, I'd imagine him, MVE and Sakamoto will all be playing around 150 minutes every 2 games.
yeah, Saka just before his injury was blowing out of his arse and so was MvE by the end of the season.

You'd likely see some like this MvE and Saka in the first game, MvE and Camera in the 2nd and Camera and Saka in the Third.

I think it works out at 120 mins but it would be great if we got him. Having that extra player that can reduce the work load means they'll be less likely to burn out.

I reckon we’ll end up letting Lati go because he’s more of a CB in a back 3 and doesn’t look as dynamic at RB as MVE. Perhaps him carrying a knock towards the end of the season influenced that.

I can't see him going this summer, he covers too many positions. We're going to need plenty of depth this season if we are going to push for playoffs and though he might not be the best player at any one position. He is still a valuable player to the squad.

To be fair, I could be average/poor in any position you like.

Because we have no experienced centre halves and only have 4 anyway. This includes Lati who isnt a specialist in any position from what ive seen to date.
If Worrall comes in he's going to be starting surely. I'd rather see us just stick with Thomas. He won't come cheap and especially if it's a loan we'd be better off developing our own players imo.
I can see why we’re after another centre half. Currently going into next season with the same back 5 that conceded a lot of goals.
We want another centre half with experience so yes Worrall would be the type

However, wage wise I can't see it

These 4 quotes are exactly my mixed emotions on Worrall, I’m sitting firmly on the fence with this one. Seems like the bloke we need but also doesn’t make practical financial sense at the same time. If I was Doug I’d genuinely be torn as to what to do about Worrall.

Same, I’m a bit surprised there’s no talk of a better LB, it seems clear to me that we need to improve in that area of the pitch. Bidwell is fine and gives you everything but sometimes his everything is not quite enough, we need Bidwell’s defensive ability but with a bit more pace and trickery going forward.

Maybe MR knows one of our CH's is being sold, but wants a replacement in first ? 🤷

Reported by a single source and the only other stories are regurgitating Nixon's words. Even Andy Turner is now quoting an online story that's running off Nixon's rumour.

No new comments or positive reporting from anyone.

This is a non-starter for multiple reasons.

Still think a No.1 GK is far more important. We hardly had any clean sheets last season.

yeah but the wages he'd want would take upmost of our budget

he's on 40k a week a Forest and even if Forest pay some of that it is still going to be more than we should be paying for him.

Forest are so close to PSR failure, that's why they want to sell. So they can get him off their books. They won't want to or be able to subsidize his wages. They want to maximise the financial gap before PSR breach.

And for the same reason, his fee won't be bargain bin.

Totally agree. Except for a possible LB, I'm happy with the rest of the defence and cover.

The man between the sticks is my biggest concern. I'd prefer to spend big there than anywhere else in the remainder of the transfer window.

Would argue that Lati is more of a holding DM, playing in front of the back 4. Incredulously, he's played at CB by Jamaica and Palmer is played as DM. And both look out of place in those roles.

He doesn't have the physique or aggressiveness to play consistently at CB, especially in the Championship. RB, he can get away with it.

But if we're building a squad to be able to compete all season (with cups), he's as good as the next player when we need cover for exhaustion.

I wouldn’t mind keeping Lati to play RB CB or CM in case of an emergency but wouldn’t really want him as an immediate back up in any position

This is it. Let's look at it as we are now with the 'stronger' rumours knocking about

Camara and Worrall

Camara - has been over, but sticking point being we cannot guarantee he starts with MVE, Tats ahead of him down the right. Preston can. I still think he won't come here

Didn't know players can demand they Start. 🤔

I'm astounded.
I've never heard of any of these signings and targets on these threads .
Is this bloke particularly famous then ? What's he done ?
