you can have an interview for a job without approaching someone. Cov didn’t have to ask Blackburn for permisson for an interview

if Lampard deal collapses then we would approach Blackburn but why would we at the min?
Right Gimoc compare notes, how close is the Lampard deal 🤣

A club does need permission to interview another clubs manager tbh

no they dont

An interview is completely different to offering a contract

if you don’t think this happens in football then you are delusional

This is total nonsense. You absolutely need permission to interview a candidate.

Okay mate your random whatsapp messages know more than people who actually know John Eustace?

Is this like when sheaf was on strike? Or when we was injured? Or that hamer contract?

We'd have to approach Blackburn, he's currently employed.
Can’t see anything definite online in regards to whether you only have to get permission when approaching to offer or to invite someone to interview

Surely it's the same as players, you're not suppose to approach a player without the permission of their club, I know agents do it indirectly, but to officially meet with a player, without permission would be a big no no.

look at rudoni interview the other week.

he said he knew we were after him since March

It happens in football all the time.

you only ask for permission when in contract talks

The bookies wouldn’t put eustace 2nd favourite if they weren’t told

he wasn’t even in the picture this time last week
You do know how bookies work yes? If enough people out money on their odds fall. You can't talk to any employed manager without the permission of his club. So he hasn't been interviewed.

so no rumours nothing yet eustace got backed into 2nd fav. no smoke without fire

Plus how thick are you lot on here?

he has spoken to the club

we haven’t offered anything formal so no need to ask for permission

you only ask for permission when offering a contract

like Lampard has been in talks for over a week now

seriously some of you on here

Correct Evo, unless they've changed the rules.

That's usually done unofficially through agents, not a formal interview.

If we had a manager that had a formal interview elsewhere without permission I would want them sacked.

Anyway, I am not arguing with an idiot

2nd choice is the best and easiest thing to blag about as normally the 1st choice gets the job and no one ever confirms who else as in the frame.

Still Eustace would absolutely love the City job but if we'd been interviewing Blackburn's manager it would of leaked from somewhere.

so you don’t think any talks take place before permission is requested?

how did rudoni know we were after him since March but only signed in June?

you said he was interviewed , which is formal and completely different from having a natter

Aye, why is Eustace going to attend an interview behind his clubs back? What happens to him if he doesn't get the job back at Blackburn when find out?

It's likely his agent has put out feelers as he wants the job but attend a formal interview? Not likely

Apart from us, Blackburn were the worst side I’ve seen at CBS this year and have struggled since playing us. I like Eustace but really don’t think he’s the man to take us forward.

Rooney going in at Brum and being shite enhanced his reputation somewhat…as if Blues were nailed on for promotion before he left..which they weren’t.

Taking this at full face value, how much longer will us and Lampard be talking anyway and if Blackburn reject the approach, then we are waiting even longer for a third choice. As you’ve said if he’s interested it would been an informal chat kept very confidential between all sides.

All joking aside would be happy with Eustace and he was mentioned by the Mail as being on our shortlist

This is the most likely scenario. Agents allowed to talk around and get ideas but couldn’t see John having a sit down

I imagine the source could have said something like ‘the club have spoken to Eustace’. What that means specifically isn’t exactly clear. On one hand, it could mean Eustace came in for an interview. On the other, it could mean the club have spoken to his representatives through informal channels. @GIMOC correct me if I’m wrong here.

For intents and purposes, they both mean the same thing in practice.

I have a mutual friend of Eustace from his childhood in Sutton Coldfield that I've mentioned on here before, so if it gathers any traction I'll be able to find out quite easily which side the truth is on, but for now I'll sit back whilst you all argue who has the smallest cock.

He’s probably passing on what his ‘source’ said and his source may not have specified what he meant by saying Eustace interviewed for the job.

As I said, the difference between the club talking to him directly or indirectly via representatives is the same thing.

When a club approaches a manager at team, it seems like the process is expedited as all parties are on the same page (most of the time).

Either way, I’m not a massive fan of Eustace and would be deflated if he was Robins successor.
