Jones injury (3 Viewers)

Apparently Jones was seen on crutches leaving the ground on Saturday. MR thinks it may not be too serious but that he might choose to rest the lad anyway...doesn't bode well for him starting at Luton, and therefore for our chances of getting anything at Luton (other than a rough time from their fans!)

Anyone know any different? If he is out for a while we could be in bother.

Play Stokes and Haynes. If Stokes isn't ready for the game, Shipley and Haynes.

This may be a game where 0-0 isnt too bad a result
so happy to shut up shop / park the bus and anything extra is a bonus

I doubt it would be good for team morale if we don't score which would mean a whole calendar month, 5 league games, without a single goal.

I am always against the assumption that just because a full back is good at getting forward and overlapping, that the full back would be a decent winger. I remember experiments with Hussey, Christie and Jordan Clarke and it never worked. That's because they're there as an extra option as overlapping full back but don't have the game sense to do the full role. And why would they, they're defenders!

But I don't think Haynes is a very good fullback.

It's an impact injury apparently. Normally these are fastest to recover from once the internal bleeding stops and bruising subsides. Especially in younger players
As ChiefDave says it's standard practice for clubs to ask players to keep their weight off the affected leg so they use crutches where people in normal jobs would make do without them and just limp about for a few days

Play the goalscorers who scored for under21s.
I am normally a fan of the theory of changing one thing at a time, so you can see which changes make the difference. On the basis that K Thomas and Ponticelli both did well yesterday, I would have one of them as the front man.

If shortly after half time there's no progress, move to 4-4-2 with the chosen one of them alongside Duck. If again that doesn't seem to work, bring Duck off and have the two of them (Thomas and JP) up top together for a few mins.

I hope Jones is allowed to get the rest he needs, even tho City need him playing. Sometimes tho these injuries allow another player a chance to shine when they can get a game in. Let's hope we have that talent to shuffle the pack, I'm not so sure we have and against Luton they have goalscorers. So, we might have to just take this game as a hit. What's happened to Stevenson? Why is he not being used as a creative player, the one game I saw him come on as sub he looked scared/worried to carry the ball past players. Is this league too physical for him or does Robins not rate him.
My initial hope of top3 finish is looking piss poor now with this squad and set up. Not sure Robins has enough quality or effective goalscorers to achieve top3, even with desperate fans calling for JP to come in to team. We don't create clean chances, midfield too negative, so I think JP would struggle unless set up changes. I repeat my belief if we fail to get out this L2 first time of asking we are staying long term or worse.
To a load of fans it doesn't really matter anymore. Is this City team just adjusting to this league? So, we have found our new level.
For our idiotic owners it's ideal. A low accepting fan base. Easier to keep ticking over at this low level. They have us where they wanted us to be. It was never about the football team. So hope Jones gets fit quickly as he is now City's little bit of hope this season. So far....

Things like this "injury" really piss me off about football. The lad gets a little knock, sits on the floor in agony till the hottie comes over, literally does nothing and tells him he can stand up. He then proceeds to limp around because he's got a little bit of a dead leg before being taken off the pitch because he can't run it off.

When will footballers man up? Next thing JJ will be saying Sturridge is his hero, along with Wilshere.

Hardly a little knock. It was blatantly obvious that Colchester were trying to put him out of the game from the start. He had already been clattered twice and the final tackle was 'cleverly ' done deep in our own half which meant the referee didnt do anything. Didnt even have a word with the player. if it had happened when he was going forwards to their box it would have been a yellow.

Have you tried walking or running with a dead leg without limping?

Yes I have, you're right it's nothing more than a limp. Certainly no reason to leave a football match. It's an impact injury, it'll be ok in time. It might even bruise, but that's the game.
It was so bad that he's standing on one leg (the injured leg) just two/three days later.

I'd say he will be playing on Sat

Not sure he would be doing this if out injured, or allowed to.

Spot on. I think what compounded his injury was a bit of mud to the pony tail.

I have noticed the pony tail can affect his game. he regularly has to adjust the tail position. needs a good short back and sides imo.
Every single one of the USA women's national team has a pony-tail and they've won the women's World Cup several times.

interesting fact but that's ladies football. Jones could probably easily fit into that ladies team if it was hair based. I used to play with a pony tail in my hair back in the day, a good strong band and Jones would not have to fanny around with his hair until half-time. thanks for the info.

Briefly spoke to him after the game on Saturday as he was sat behind the dugout in his suit, along with Stoke, DKE and a few of the younger lads.

He was hobbling towards the players lounge but managed the stairs ok. Said it would be a few days before he knew the outcome but it was ‘dead’. Hopefully we’d have heard by now if he was out for a prolonged period of time.

Grimmer and Doyle said last night he was training ok and should be fine for Saturday (don't tell Luton, as we don't want them to know)
