...a step down . He's gone to a club with huge potential though.

My Reading friend says he's decent. Played behind the strikers under McDermott but Since Stam has come in he's dropped a little deeper. Should hopefully solve the issue of creativity in the middle of the park and play the role Andreu was supposed to.

Good to see new recruit at the beginning of Jan and not 10 to midnight on the 31st. We need fresh injection to our squad soon as possible. Hope he’s the first of a few, still need 2 attackers atleast imo.

I keep forgetting about Kwame Thomas. Doesn't seem to have a future here unfortunately.

That back heel flicked goal he score though will always linger long in the memory.

Hopefully he can let us have some of those assists.

Looks like he is up there in that league for assists / goals.

Good luck to the lad, I hope he does well here.
However if I was ponticelli I’d be telling my agent to get me the fuck out of this place!

Though it now seems that this new lad is an attacking midfielder, not an out and out striker, so no challenge to Ponticelli at all.

Why do some clowns think that signinhg someone who doesn't play in the same position as ponticelli is bad for him?

The comparisons with Ponticelli are pointless. Ponti might be 19 but he is far less experienced, he needs easing in. This lad has played a bit more and plays in a different position in any case.

I think people forget Ponti has only been in football a year and a half I think it is as well. It isn't like he has been in academies since a kid.

It looks like Barrett has been playing for Ireland since he was a kid as well.

It wouldn't surprise me if we terminated his contract, has scored 1 goal for both Solihull and Sutton. It's a shame because I was rooting for him.

Ponti is still a prospect and nothing more. Plus this guy is a CAM not an out-and-out striker.

Oh, my bad it would appear. I got the headline “city sign Reading forward”
From the Coventry Telegraph. And i immediately assumed we had signed a forward from reading. That will teach me to believe anything the telegraph puts out there. To be honest I should of known better. Apologies to all.

Reads as though he’s a replacement for Andreu, let’s hope he adds the MUCH needed creativity form midfield we have been severely lacking all season.

If the other signing is a winger, it still leaves us short in that position, but would still class it as decent business.

Unless of course Barratt will play on the wing.

Either way, a promising signing and so far none of the moaning re signing an ‘unproven 19 year old’.

However, the comparisons to Ponti are ridiculous.

The offal actually said 'attacking player' too and with his goal stats it was easy to have mistaken him for a striker at first.

Or a replacement for Jones. Even better still. We didn't see enough of Andreu and this lad can play out wide.

In all fairness I only knew he was a CAM because I signed him on last year's FM (and for the record he was bloody good!)
