King said basically that Stamenic was a proposed replacement for Sheaf. I think people are confused if they think we’ve planned to add another money signing to the midfield. Suggests Sheaf was close to going.
Didn’t you say this bid was in January though?Sheaf refusing the move could well be the reason. Would make sense.
I really wish he'd gone. His stock won't be that high again after a high profile end to the season courtesy of the cup run andI don't think we'd miss anywhere near as much as the other big name players who have gone.

Easy to say in hindsight though.
I thought it was end of last season but I could be wrong, fairly sure though because I was out of the country first few months of the year.
I don't think it is better, just different. Give me Tommy Hutch, Ian Wallace, Jim Holton and Stuart Pearce any dayI’m guessing you’re the one shouting “forward” at every opportunity? If you took off your rose-tinted glasses, you’ld see that the standard of football and technical ability are now light years ahead of your good old days. Added to that, I’m sure you would also remember the dreadful pitches, the incessant backpasses, no incentive to try and win games (as only 2 points for a win), unpunished thuggery on the pitch, poor crowds, appalling stadiums.
Is it perfect? Of course not - we’ve got VAR, weak referees not enforcing the laws/guidance, undoubtedly more playacting and the game being run by Sky. But on balance, it’s a massively better sport to watch. And before you ask, I’ve been watching since 1964 so suffered through the old (but not good) days.
Eccles is a good squad player, if we seriously want a crack at top 6 next season then he shouldn’t be starting,Anyone really want to keep Eccles infront of Sheaf and Rudoni, Rip your hand off for£million , million and a half.
Another Championship team would be delighted to sign a player like him for that small a fee.Anyone really want to keep Eccles infront of Sheaf and Rudoni, Rip your hand off for£million , million and a half.
You'd sell Eccles for £1m? Absolutely ridiculous take.Anyone really want to keep Eccles infront of Sheaf and Rudoni, Rip your hand off for£million , million and a half.
You're right to question his million, but that's way ott too and I like him. I certainly wouldn't be thrilled if we'd spent 7m to buy him. I would've thought bang in the middle of those two estimates at about 4m is right.
Oh I don’t think he’s worth seven million, but thought to show how way off it is. 4 million fair imo. You're right to question his million, but that's way ott too and I like him. €7m is less than £6m. I would agree with between £4m and £5m so don't see it as being far out. £1m only gets you a decent League 1 player these days. You're right to question his million, but that's way ott too and I like him. Eccles in the Prem! The notion of selling Eccles for a million is just ridiculous. Every club in the league would take him at that price (and probably a few in the PL too.)
Eccles in the Prem!
Eccles in the Prem!
And yet he is still here. I like him btw but for me his ceiling is as a good championship player. There were PL scouts watching him last year apparently and he'd definitely get in as a squad player for £1m for some of the bottom teams.

He has one decent game and then 4)5 average ones ,not consistently good.At the moment yes he is I absolutely agree.
My point was not that he is a Premier League level player, but that selling him for £1m as someone suggested is lunacy and he'd end up at a far better team than us.
I’d sit this one out chief, you described the last player to have a Premier League career as League 1 standard.Eccles in the Prem!

To be fair we don't know if or if not this will happen yet.You said he will outgrow us and has been out best player this season and if we don’t get promoted will get the opportunity elsewhere
