I'm sure lots of players would be open to playing in more than one position. Being able to do so to maximum effect is another. Lati plays in lots of positions but is he good enough at any of them to be first choice?

I tend to find players that play in many positions tend to be back up and the reason they play so many positions is because they aren't quite good enough at any particular one of them.

This is Paul Warnes take not mine, football is a relatively simple game and you either have the ability to play it or you don't. If you are good enough you can play in more than one position. (I don't think he is talking an average here or journeymen, he is talking about recruitment with the right skill set and attitude. He exampled several utility players that got Derby promotion, some not good enough for the next step. But still favours signing utility players). For me the key to this is players who are comfortable with both feet. He also stressed how players in the squad at all levels have to understand formations and systems. But that in my book is what coaching is...education, adaptability and development.

Regarding Tav. He only returned to playing in the second half of the season and mainly off the bench.
Whilst he was played out wide, which most of us acknowledge is not his normal position.
He does seem to be a decent finisher, when playing in a central position, but I’m still not sure if he’s championship level.
It’ll be interesting to see how he fairs in preseason and whether MR makes a decision to sell him.

Why's it an idiotic comment? He only said he wants him gone - that's his opinion
Plus so what if Tavares had a good cameo v United?

Julian DaCosta had one good game vs Forest… doesn’t mean we wanted him to stay.

Hes been around the club now for a long time and he’s still not really at the level we need him to be at to be a top 6 club so ideally I want him sold if he has any value and replaced with someone who can add value.

Every report that comes out on players wages has his reasonably high for what he delivers. Multiple sites all had him at £4-5k a week! If he’s on anywhere near that and cannot deliver consistently and be a game changing player then yes I want him gone.

What’s wrong with that?

The thing is Tav started getting a run and even started and had a good game against Stoke, he keeps getting unfortunate injuries that stall his breakthrough, my view has been changed by his performances end of last season I think there’s something there and Im happy to give it a last crack this year and if it doesnt work let him go

Yes lots of people saying O'Hare coming back from a serious injury needs time to get up to speed.

But I thought Tavares came back after a long injury and showed a new level of maturity with a calmer head. I had written him off before his injury but I think it is worth giving him another season. I think he can give us an option off the bench and the rest will be down to him. Also potentially one less player to bed in.

Exactly. He came back from a year out with a serious injury, and albeit in a small number if appearances, had a better goals to minutes record than Wright and Simms, whilst playing out of position. He was outstanding against Manchester United.

I still don't know whether long term he has a future here but I don't get what basis people have for saying they want him out of the club. I really dislike comments picking on young players.

I agree, too early to say whether he is good enough for this level? But I think the lad came back and showed enough to be given a bit more time. But I am always happy to trust the manager and coaching staff because they work with them everyday.

Goals to minute is rather misleading here. COH got all his goal between Dec and Feb. Considering he’s never been a prolific scorer, is that goal scoring run more like to be a flash in the pan or a genuine improvement to his game? After that period, he could barely get in the team and two good cup performances doesn’t change that.

Having seen Vik and Hamer play for us and the difference two players can have on a team, that’s the standard we need to aspire to. Frankly, COH went missing at a critical juncture we needed him to drag us through games.

Good luck to him but the loss is nowhere near that of Hamer and Vik.

Sounds like he is staying at Wednesday, good luck to them and the 20 games they will get out of him... Not someone in my opinion we should be looking at.

I imagine this whole rumour was planted by his agent to get more money from Wednesday. He’s not an us or Hull type of signings. Pete is usually a decent journalist but I’m sure he wouldn’t say no to a few quid to plant a story like this

I see his dad is suing the FA for dementia problems caused by continually heading the ball. What is unusual is that he played his football using the modern balls, not the heavy leather lace up ones that did for a lot of the old timers. Appears the FA are in the dock for possibly deliberately dismissing evidence of damage caused by constant heading for many years. Vik is not daft when it comes to heading the ball.

Please don’t come to our club 😭🙏🏻
Hull is a lovely place, got a nice big bridge, everyone talks with a friendly Yorkshire accent and they’ve got grown men that pretend to tigers and growl at you whilst you’re watching a football game. Go on Windass go there, it’s lovely I promise!! 🫣

Come on bro give us names. You can't be any worse than GIMOC.

I won't give names for obvious reasons. I heard back in March we had been in talks with the lad since January. Heard again back end April that its sorted. I don't usually post as I've seen the flack people get when things don't come to fruition, however I think people should know the club has better intent than the likes of Windass. He's 25, and as far as I have seen from lurking for a while, his name has never been mentioned on here.
