Through to the 2nd round, get in! :D

"Eight teams find themselves in four regional groups - north west, north east, south west and south east – while 16 clubs have byes and will enter the tournament at the second round stage.

Crewe Alexandra, who lifted the trophy for the first time at Wembley in April, will be in first round action in the north west section but the side they beat in the final, Southend United, have received a bye.

The two clubs promoted from the Blue Square Premier last season, Newport County and Mansfield Town, have both received an automatic passage into the second round.

The full list of which clubs are in the respective sections can be found below.

The first round draw will be held on Sky Sports’ Soccer AM programme on Saturday, August 17 with the ties to be played the week commencing September 2.

Why are we getting a bye when Crewe (who won it) don't....maybe the FL are going to call it quits for the 20 points they've taken off us.

I'm not complaining in any case, just seems strange!

I dont think we can beat the the low attendance for the first round, 0, as its a bye, onwards and upwards to 100 for the second round then!

Its a shame, would loved to have pulled someone like Exeter out at home just to see how many would attend.

Don't tease I want to see that game badly!

how do they work out who gets a bye?

Well, if you have incriminating evidence that the FL have allowed you to field unregistered and hence illegible players and you promise not to tell anyone if they do as they're told, then you get a bye.

I'm sure we had 8 extra home games last year plus the Arsenal and Spurs full houses. Our finances were just on the up before these fucking morons started all this land grab bollux. With the bigger wage earners out of the way now and a couple of decent cup crowds again coupled with rent at £150k per year the club at last could have turned a small profit.

I wish they'd make up their bloody minds as to whether we're North or South.

I guess Wolves coming down means that they have to even up the sections.

I ain't no southern Fairy
