Perspective will come tomorrow or the day after! After that.

That was plain unacceptable.

Or now we are creating chances he can show not just effort but goals too. 5 chances 2 goals not bad

Compared to 37 chances and 2 goals previously no it isn’t

I think you said previously that shots on goal are not chances so I’d check your facts on whether those are chances or shots / efforts

Lol are you a registered charity for protecting rubbish footballers on an Internet forum?

It was a very bad day but to put it in to perspective the last four games mirrors our season. 2 good wins, a draw and a bad defeat to a lowly position club from the south west.
On to Nottingham and yesterday was just one of those days.

I hope that just because bayliss and Doyle got over run today he doesn’t go back to sideways Kelly

I wouldn't be bothered if he did it for Saturday with Bayliss on the bench. It's worked OK against the better sides and Bayliss does look as though he needs a rest.

The problem is when Kelly plays with Doyle the ball doesn’t move forward and yesterday showed the danger of our defenders getting involved in the play

Agreed Max's energy versus Vincenti (coupled with just as much of an aerial threat) - he's got to be sorely tempted to start him
I would say any of the DKE twins offer just as much aerial threat as our resident Giraffe with his lead lined boots...Never have I seen such a tall bloke as him offer so little in the air, well on the ground too

He will have to change personnel for the Notts county game, Biamou came on to attack but at that stage it was gung ho time ...does he trust Stokes anymore? I think Reid done ok but does he leave the left back exposed too much? No doubt after Robins speaks with super Oggy they will have it cracked! Barrett is not the answer, Shipley may well start again after a tiny rest and we will probably see the return of Kelly if he is fit because he wasn't even in the squad yesterday, maybe it's Mr Kipling time and we see the return of Baker but I highly doubt it

I'm afraid we have another team that looses it under pressure.
Play offs ? If we get there we will just roll over.
It's not the one off defeat it's the feeling you get knowing we are going to fail at the last hurdle.
Too many average players and youngsters being forced to play too early.

But then are we any different from any other club in this league? It’s the nature of the beast.

Harsh critique - yesterday was a freak. Most teams in League 2 have a lot of average players - if they were all that much better they would be in higher leagues. How can you know we will just roll over in high pressure games - we have done well in most of the games against the bigger teams, including the Cup performances - also didn't bottle it in the Checkatrade last year. Of course we could mess it up, but don't agree with your rationale.

The game was a total nonsense and it's a waste of effort trying to draw much in the way of conclusions

It's the sort of reality that hits home after watching yesterdays drivel.
We need to be more robust but we have not got the players to do it.

We are just an average L2 team occasionally over performing.
I can't get used to it like younger fans can, probably due to having seen where we should be 20 years ago.

Shouldn't even be in this League in the first place.

Bottom line: 4-2 and we fucked it up
Good teams still come back from that.

We still had a huge chance at 4 two, as the 2nd goal certainly lifted the crowd. We felt we could get out of jail. But then even more defensive errors sucked all life out of us.

The were simply brilliant yesterday.

I think that's as close as we're ever going to get from you for praise on the lad, Grendel.

I thought he did very well and could easily have had a hat trick.

I would keep him in, in place of Vincenti for Saturday and that's now 3 goals in 2 games from him.
I would add that 2 of the goals were scored inside the 6 yard box, proper strikers goals

Have a day off. He's done well the last 2 games when he's come on and scored 3 goals in the process. Have enough humility to at least say he's done well on his last couple of appearances. You can do that whilst remaining sceptical over whether he will be good enough in the long term.

Was every impressed with him yesterday. His touch and his movement were both really good and both goals were very well taken.

We've got to remember that, last Friday, Derby took an almighty hiding at home from our 'friends' from Co. Durham but came back and beat PNE yesterday.
No reason why we cant do the same if MR can get inside the players heads and get them chomping at the bit come this Saturday at Notts.
Its either that or another potentially disastrous defeat....

Says the poster who at every defeat thinks fans should get their money back, robins get sacked, disgrace etc.

You judge a players ability on his contribution over a season - the sooner we stop being a charity and being “pleased” for some one delivering what he’s paid to deliver the better.

It makes zero sense to me - I don’t want my money back though.

Still captain “never seen coventry play in my life” Dart liked the post.

I've left it for a day before posting about yesterday to try and get some perspective. I am still gutted and feel like I've had one massive kick in the bollocks. Not just our performance but the results above us mean that we now have a very very slim chance of now getting into the automatic promotion position. I was sure we'd get that 1rs and possibly 2nd place.
The game was just 'one of those days' but coupled with the other results, its really kick the shit out of my optimism.

It was only my 2nd game this season so Im not qualified to say anymore than what I saw.I t was a bad day, we gifted a few goals, we scored two and had many chances. The crowd didnt get on the teams back as much as they have done previously and I have left the ground far more angry last year than yesterday. The positives are we are creating chances, we arent going through the motions (a part from Vincenti) and I can see a large improvement. Like Grendel said no need to analyse it just lets move on and hope its a lesson learnt and we can continue to push on and get as many points as possible. Even Man Utd etc have off days.
From that shambolic team we had last year to this seasons team performances is a good testament to a manager who has only been here 12 months.

The last two goals was MR's fault by moving Reid to left back he should have bought Stokes on and not Barrett

I can understand why he wouldn't bring a defender on but I would have preferred Shipley. He played left back as a sub in a Checkatrade game early season and seemed to know what he was doing. That way he wouldn't have to put Reid at FB

Grendel said that yes and there is truth in the sentiment but he then popped around various other threads hammering individuals. What he really meant was 'Can we please brush under the carpet a game where JCH was anonymous for the 2nd game in a row and in Biamou has scored 3 goals'. No player ratings from him for two games now is no coincidence.

I've started the same number of threads on being unhappy with Robins as you. I've been quite open about being wrong about that, and support Robins.

The performance yesterday was disgraceful but I agree with your OP that there needs to be some perspective, and I certainly wouldn't lay blame at Robins feet. It was just a bit of a freak result.

And, yes, I overreact when we lose. I've always done it, always will. At least I can admit when I'm wrong.

The thing is he posts some really good stuff at times but it gets lost between all the personal slagging matches he gets involved in and his inability to admit when he is wrong. I can't imagine he acts like this in his every day life, I suspect its maybe just getting rid of frustration in his day to day life or something. Certainly no-one that acted like that in real life could continue to function in normal society.

A disaster. But nothing changed really, we have to take a game at a time and try and win them all. Hopefully we will get in the play offs. But 're automatics you never know what might happen next week...its about points now; fans and players need to stick together.
