I remember Mowbray saying that Bulgarian lad was too good for lge 1 level - and he blatantly wasn’t as it turned out
I'd love us to play 4-4-2.
Marosi
Dabo - Rose - McFadzean - Mason
Jobello - Kelly - Allen - Kasteneer
Biamou - Godden
Doesn’t matter if these are good players or not. 4-3-3 is not a system in league 1 that will get the best out of the forwards. Robins over complicates it.
Omg now you've done itAh, but that was Tony Mowbray, who really wasn't the best.
That’s correct and we don’t have the players at our disposal to play 4-3-3 do we?Based on what? How can anybody categorically say 4-3-3 doesn't work on league one?
Surely it is completely based on the players at your disposal.

443 will work with the correct front 3 Liverpool play it perfect. Not what you said though is it? You said you can't play it in league one.
What formation would you recommend then? I would say we do have the players to play 4-3-3. In fact it seems to suit our players best. To clarify I am talking about our best team.
4-4-3 would be great if we could get away with it.443 will work with the correct front 3 Liverpool play it perfect.
Lol yes agreed defo worth a try slot Julian Gray in unnoticed4-4-3 would be great if we could get away with it.

Mainly the wide man need to be very good hence Salah & Mane for Liverpool we’re trying to do the same with Hiwula & Jobello & no established centre forward4-3-3 is a formation that sides with top quality teams can work with. It’s a formation that relies on two wide that support the forward straight away or either one of the wide men support the forward player. Last season we never had a centre forward that you could play off or a wide player that linked up with the forward. If we did we would of got more goals. Either the forwards we have are not good enough or the systems at fault. My thoughts on reflection are it’s a bit of both.
The forwards we have are hit and miss (more often miss) we also don’t at this moment have that link up number 10 to support a forward in his own. My fear is the new boy will be isolated and frustrated with this system. The advantages with 4-3-3 is we don’t often get over run in midfield but most sides will eventually start playing over the top of us.
Just my thoughts and I respect other people’s opinion. It’s just not a system for me as I think we could get a lot more out of the squad with 4-4-2.
PUSB
Exactly. We don’t have that level of quality. I get what robins is trying to do but I don’t think it will work.Mainly the wide man need to be very good hence Salah & Mane for Liverpool we’re trying to do the same with Hiwula & Jobello & no established centre forward
I would be tempted to try the 4231 with Kastanner in brights role from last season when he is back or we could try Jodi Jones in that role once he’s back;failing that 2 up front in a 442 or something I’m sick of seeing our striker isolated feeding off scraps,24 shots yesterday we need to become clinical i hope Godden is that man else we’re fucked I said pre season I didn’t see where the goals were coming from.Exactly. We don’t have that level of quality. I get what robins is trying to do but I don’t think it will work.
McFadzean said after the Southend game in the corporate suites that after burton played them that although city were a good side burton felt we just didn’t look a threat going forward. The Southend game was a repeat of last season over again. He also said the forwards when they do get a chance have got to be more ruthless.
Not top players but the right type of intelligent player defending from the front out of position squeezing their defence & a willingness to work off the ball in possession movement is the key firmino, salah & mane do it so well,ie “aggression” as you’ve said.Them front 3 need to work as a unit in & out of possession for it to be successful very early days yet.Bollocks. You don’t need top players to play 433. It’s a fairly straight forward system. Other teams at this level have played it. Just need to be a bit more aggressive with it than we are.
So you believe it’s down to aggression?Bollocks. You don’t need top players to play 433. It’s a fairly straight forward system. Other teams at this level have played it. Just need to be a bit more aggressive with it than we are.
Same as last season. We need to get it forward quicker than we do
Yeah, we overplay far too much, which is why we will struggle again against teams that want to park the bus/bottom 6 teams but will do well against better teams that want to play more open.We need to get it forward quicker than we do
This is why in a 2 up front Godden & a target type man you can hit that target man quick & play off him I’ve never been a massive fan of these 1 striker formations at the level we play at,Chaplin was the same struggled playing alone my fear is Godden will be the same left isolated.Yeah, we overplay far too much, which is why we will struggle again against teams that want to park the bus/bottom 6 teams but will do well against better teams that want to play more open.

agreed - Chris Coleman being the best example - Got lucky with Wales - Probably given the circumstances our worst manager in recent timesNot for us, don't care what he does anywhere else. I only care about what OUR manager does.
