So, as he is making me as dizzy as when some of ML's articles came out I just wondered if he had forgotten about his Q and A on Twitter in October which went:

@cllr_kevinmaton So will @coventrycc support building new #CCFC stadium in city? Assuming our owners can afford it this time…

To which he replied:

@CovBackToRicoh @coventrycc why would we. We support sustainable businesess. Explain biz case to me.See previous tweet why this a nonsense

Bit of a U turn isn't it? Especially as he seemed to go a bit quiet: https://twitter.com/Cllr_KevinMaton/status/520138169971658752 when some questions he couldn't answer went his way.... Very sure about his answer..

Not forgetting last week when he was made to look a bit of a plonker by Wasps contradicting him

Not forgetting when it seemed like every councillor was harping on about it was all ok as it was down to CCFC to buy Higgs share (knowing full well it couldn't happen, at least I hope they knew that else they would look even sillier).

Full blown PR stunt....

Maybe Cllr Lucas could explain why she gets her photo taken on the pitch with Wasps players after selling the council's share but has not once done the same with the football club she claims to support or the city's existing rugby club? The lot of them are a duplicitous bunch scrambling to find excuses for their own incompetence as local politicians.

Today's statement from Maton doesn't really say anything new. He's not saying they would get support and assistance from CCC just that the wouldn't be able to block it as an appeal would go over their heads, which we already knew. Doesn't mean they will support it, they could make life as difficult as possible and delay things.

If he really meant it he would asking SISU to contact him and saying CCC will do anything they can to help find a new site and keep the club in the city.

Probably about as much as you are trying to do to take this off topic to deflect the fact this Maton fella seems to have been to bullshit college with SISU and WASPS but people will treat everything he says as gospel as a stick to use to beat the club with (which it was intended to do) without questioning him.

Everything to do with it, the councillor who puts more effort into dealing with London rugby clubs than clubs in her own city which she is the leader of. Doesn't deal with hedge funds but does deal with Derek Richardson and his myriad of businesses registered in Malta, says a deal is there to be done on ownership whilst selling to Wasps behind closed doors, etc etc.

Also, if Maton really did want to help the club out by suggesting an ideal piece of land they could use and that they would be supported just like any other business. Why did he not just give them a call and say "look fellas, what do you think about this land, we will treat you as we would anybody else". I am not sure when they help other businesses out they do it on the front page of the telegraph?

In theory and if it was so simple yes He could also welcome it knowing full well that it would never in a million years be able to happen, the same as when they were inviting the club to buy the Higgs share

Why wouldn't it be able to happen? The law is the law, and CCC are not above it.

Well your asking Maton to get involved in the future plans of the football club. Things that have nothing to do with him.

I suspect you want the council involved again so once something goes wrong with this project it will give you the opportunity to blame them and not sisu.

I don't doubt they aren't above it and I am not saying they are, but when my daughter asks for an ice cream and I say "Yes of course darling, but only if your mummy says yes" and I know full well her mummy will say no. I look a hero don't I?

It just smacks of the whole "come and buy the Higgs share", why not just give them a ring then if he is being so kind as suggesting a place?

Maybe people need to be a bit more cynical with everybody rather than just SISU.

It would be down to the planning committee, to begin with. If they refused then it could be appealed to central government.

There is no need for him to get involved other than just clarifying the law, I agree on that at least.

I don't know, but I know that there are plenty of councillors, and past councillors, who are life long fans but have never had their picture taken on the pitch with the players.

The council cares more about covering it's own arse than the city's sports clubs. Lucas' picture with the Wasps players sums that up quite well.

So if he is in the planning part of the council, I am pretty sure he will know how Central Government works and the way they think with appeals? He will also know what the residents in certain areas think to see if they would want to get it blocked? What about the highways people? The roads round there are terrible as it is at rush hour, how will it be with 15,000 (optimistic I know) coming out?

Yes you can keep saying "he is just quoting the law", but you aren't a fool, you know exactly what he is trying to do....
