Leaving Palace by mutual consent. I think he'd be a great signing for us.

Hes a class act, chasing a game with 20 minutes to go, no player at this level can finish like he can.

agree with that. 10k+ a week for a chap to come on for the last 20 mins means its a no no

Fair enough, but I doubt he'd want that sort of money. He's hardly played for Palace this year and could easily sit on a decent wage but seems like he'd rather play.

Why do you think that? Have you seen our high pressing fast passing game? Can't see Phillips fitting in with that. Plus his age and the fact he can probably get 10 k per week until the end of this season.

Hes kept himself in tip top shape, great approach/attitude to the game, deadly in front of goal. Hes not someone to who could play 90 minutes every week, but with 20 minutes to go there are no better goal scorers at this level. I believe he wants to go into coaching, and sometimes it doesn't work out but he could be a great influence on the younger lads. I really don't think he'd want a move for the money.

Some players just want to play. A few do it for the love of the game. The best player we have had for many years was about the same age. If you look through the non league clubs you will see players that play because they love the game. Adebola is one of these players. He is now playing a few levels below league entry level.

If he was going to join us for his love of the game then I would say yes. For the money then no. But he should have secured his future by now.

These kind of posts always make me smile. Everyone has an opinion on what Kevin wants, what kind of wage he'd be looking for etc. And yet not one of us has even met the man, never mind discussed his motivations with him. Actually, possibly many of us have never even seen our side play this season more than twice - and possibly not seen Philips play at all, and yet we also have an opinion of where he'd fit into our side.

Just saying. Not having a pop at anyone, it just makes me smile.

If he doesn't want to sit on palaces bench every week in the PL why would he be happy to do it here in league one ?

I think Kevin Phillips would be a great shout but his wages are the problem. The fucker still thinks he should earn 30k a week even though he's 75.

Pullis is in & soon after Kevin is out.. pretty obvious what is being said.. he is simply too old for that level now..

Anyway, what on earth are people on about here, CCFC is still under a salary cap rated at 75% of previous expenditures and a low budget, so there will be no players with large salaries coming in, no one you've heard of & no one other clubs in league one or above are counter bidding on.

He's said he's not about money, palace paid him up. Just wants to play till the end of the season, near home in the midlands. Doubt we'll get him

A team in financial ruin who aren't even playing in their won city, dickhead owners, no money, loads of debt, in a shit league and little chance of getting out of it in the next few years. Real attractive prospect for a Premier League legend

[h=1]Kevin Phillips signs for Leicester City[/h]
Leicester City have signed former Crystal Palace striker Kevin Phillips on a contract to the end of the season.
The Foxes are the 40-year-old's ninth club in a career which began in 1994 and in which he has scored 285 goals.
He agreed a one-year contract with Palace last summer, but was recently released by mutual consent.
"The opportunity to sign a player of Kevin's experience and knowhow doesn't come along too often," manager Nigel Pearson told the club website.

Would rather have a younger, less experienced striker who has proved himself at a lower level and can give 110% for 90 mins than an old wise well travelled who wont last 30 mins.

I think the FFP embargo means that a new signing can only be on 75% wage of the player he replaces.
So if Leon Clarke is on £8k per week a new player can be on £6k per week.

This was lifted a couple of days ago and free to sign players

I think there are still some restrictions, so the limit on player numbers may have gone but the SCMP is still in place.

I've just seen Kevin Phillips, his kids go to one of my schools in lichfield. He said he had a couple of offers from league 1 but the scum wanted him to do a bit of coaching.
