He's just said on talksport wants to start most games and help a team up from the championship. Also he said 90% chance he won't be at blues. What you reckon? He and our current crop, especially if Marlon re-signs, teams would not fancy playing us at all........ Personally I'd like him on board.

Didn't he also say he was happy in the midlands, and we are one of the only other midlands teams he hasn't played for. He would be class, his performance against us in the FA cup was top class

The guy is a fox in the box. Look at Brum's 3rd goal when we lost in the cup - ok, joke defending to let him have that much time and room from a corner, but still, BANG! In the net, great finish.

Him and Kingy would provide some serious firepower at this level.

Sven has a history of paying top dollar for aging professionals...

Were Leicester could offer 25k a week, we would struggle with half of that

pretty sure all of our eggs are in the "King" basket

A year ago perhaps but now just looking for another season to play and stockpile some more retirement money. We need King to stay and the Juke looks likely to come of age for me...I don't think Phillips would feature in a faster attacking Thorn side!

I tend to agree with Paxman II post above. I have always rated Kevin Phillips as a top player, but at 37? Could he cut it with the style of play that AT wants in future? I could see a lot of stamina problems here. (Mind you, I didn't give up playing until I was 46!)

A reasonable shout for a plan B alongside the Juke, but only if Marlon says no (I feel a song coming on). We can't afford expensive bench warmers and a 46 game season is probably too much for KP now. With wages I'm sure he'll get better offers than we come up with.

Everybody mentions his age and as I keep saying when we played them he was easily the most dangerous player on the pitch. Movement was awesome. I couldn't see fitness come in to it either. So to just assume that because he's 37 he can't hack it is wrong. Add to that he wasn't 1st choice at Blues it's probably saved his legs a bit. He would easily still hack it in this league.

Player/Coach(FW) that would be a top signing for us with the young kids like Jeffers, Wilson and Juke still learning the game you would not find a better role model... Chances of it happening, id say 0%..

Our record of signing aged has-beens has been none too impressive. Even if we felt he could still score goals, I would suggest that at his age, injury is too great a gamble. We could not afford to sign such a player and end up with him injured for most of the season.

The CCFC problem has never been about the forwards: it has been the creativity and pace supporting the forwards.

the name dennis wise comes to mind! how old was he when he played for us? and he is the best player iv seen at the ricoh for us apart from king of course so if phillips is available and hes willing to take a pay cut and come then sign him up i say

And lets not forget, Gordon Strachan who was also,the"Best player on the pitch" and aged 40 too.
But the blowing off most of our limited budget on KP doesn't fit in with our Business model, and I must agree, we "Buy em cheap and stack em high" this is a far safer option than putting all our money in one, well thumbed basket, but if something like a goal and appearance contract could be agreed, then it might be worth a punt.

But I imagine K.P is looking for one last Hooray to finish his career, possibly a two year deal, which would be beyond our limited means.

But you never know!..Tanktop.Sun drenched Bedworth :eek:

If we could get him (big If) he would be a good signing for one year. If we kept King it would certainly show our ambition as a club.

Heard him on Radio 5 live on Monday night. He said he had spoken to McLeish and there had been no mention of a new contract likely to be offered Therefore he took it he was a free agent as from the end of his current contract and looking for a new club. He felt he still had plenty to offer and could certainly expect 15 goals at championship level.

Like the idea of player coach but again can't see it happening really and could the money be spent better elsewhere?

Would be great super sub and between Phillips, King, Eastwood, Jukebox and Mcsheffrey we would have enough goals for a top 6 finish. Still need to strengthen down the wings and maybe bring in one more center back to cover absences
