He's just limped off for Watford. So if we'd splashed out a loan fee and a big wage for him, and that had happened to us, we'd have been in an even worse position for signing him. Swerved one there?

tbh i didn't really want him. We don't need a loan player to come in for a month and player 3 or 4 games. Any outfield loan players we bring in ideally need to be coming for at least 3 months to make any significant impact. Plus he's been injured for so long and we've got enough player that are injured or just coming back from injury, we don't need another one.

Plus there were questions over where he would play if we kept the present system. If we were looking to bring him in because we were going to play with wingers, that would have made more sense. I'm starting to wonder if there was ever anything in it. Clive was wrong, any way.
