Its as simple fact as we wont get an adequate replacement, there isnt one. Even if we got Super Kev, he wont have the legs and engine Marlon has.

Gutted.

fair play to him. although i can put a bet on relegation now, rather than every other year i do it for promotion.

our superstar signing will be kevin phillips who will get injured in the first month so we'll have to play eastwood. to be fair, eastwood might play well this season considering its the last year of his contract :claping hands::claping hands::claping hands:

I love how quick people change. When he was here 99% thought he was the best thing ever, now that 99% think he is a bastard for leaving us?

You can do both but it is the comments and songs about his convictions that are out of order.

Id imagine its the way its been done Nick. Of course its riled people up. We need the full truth to come out. If Marlon never said he would sign, then theres no problem at all. But if he did, i would be just as outraged if it was any other squad player. Should be able to take people on their word.

That's about the top and bottom of it Nick. Its not that he has left its the way it has all happened. Hopefully we can move on and look to the future.

We don't know the truth though. We only know what has been put on the CCFC website and tweeted. If Marlon was filmed on Sky Sports News saying it then of course he would be a bastard but nobody knows exactly what was said or in what context.

he was THE best player i saw in this league Hackers (although I missed Taraabt as I was ill) Only one that was anywhere near him that I saw was Kevin Phillips in the cup. If we could get him I would be very happy, but can we afford him? and can he last a full season at 37?

To be fair Nick, if he hadn't phoned Andy Thorn saying he was staying I probably would have clapped him if he came to the Ricoh with another club for the goals he gave us in a time of need but the way it's all been handled I think it's hard not to feel a bit bitter about the whole situation! A week ago we were full of optimism and now it feels a bit gloomy for next season again - and when we are linked to signing another player how long will it drag on for before he actually signs or goes elsewhere? I think the waiting for things to happen with players (even outgoing ones!) is the most frustrating part even for me and I consider myself quite patient normally! I think now it seems KW and MK are as good as gone I hope we can find good replacements who are signed up and ready to go in good time for a full pre-season.

It's especially hard to take as we won't get another player as good as MK whilst in the Championship unless we find an absoloute gem in the lower leagues - who will then probably be sold to brum after 6 months and the vicious circle of CCFC life goes on. I don't agree with people who say MK owes us although it would have been nice maybe just once for a footballer to give a club a bit of loyalty who took him on under the circumstances...where were the Blues 10 or so months ago when MK was released?? Guess that's just the way it is. :(

Heard several rumours that Phillips was due to join Watford until a midlands team put In a late offer to join. I assume he is the big name replacement for king

Was there any other striker in the championship last year who had a better goals to starts ratio? Probably only 1 or 2, and they are off to the premier league.

Agreed at least Westwood has conducted himself in a honorary matter. He made it clear at the start of the season he would be leaving and has never asked to be sold or put in a transfer request etc.
If Westwood ever returns with another club I am confident he will get a great reception from the Coventry fans.

King > Phillips
Phillips too old to play 90 mins in 46 games a season now

I agree but I would say that if Phillips can last 60 mins or come on of the bench he will score, but AT will need to buy another striker to back up that department since platt and Eastwood should both go

The best striker to play for us for years thats for sure.... The media have been wrong before but its looking less likely that he will wear sky blue again. Fucking booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
