King's replacement (1 Viewer)

I would love King to stay but have resigned myself to the fact that he is going now and therefore started to think not just about strikers, but the type of striker that we need. In my opinion anything in our budget would be a gamble and I can't think of anyone better than someone we already have at the club.

Not Eastwood, Platt or O'Dononvan, but Sheffers. In this formation and with the work that Juke does to create space, I can't think of a better option. I'm sure with a regular run through the middle he would score plenty. He doesn't have that yard of pace but he is clever enough and experienced enough now to get around that and he is proven at this level.

If I'm honest I don't think he ever worked back hard enough in midfield but to expect him to, takes something away from his game. Make him 'the man' and find him. If we create enough chances like we were at the end of the season I'm confident he can put them away. It also affords Baker a run in his favoured position in behind the front two.

Does anyone agree?

I don't think that's a bad shout actually mate. Even if that were to happen though, i'd still like us to sign another striker.

We're definitely short and I would like another. In fact as I would happily see Eastwood, the luckless R O'D and Plattini all leave I think we need two more at least. I woudl like to have seen a big, young back up for Juke (like Gary Madine who is now at Wednesday) and someone with pace to offer us options. A premier league loan would be where I was targeting but who kows what AT has lined up.

I would go for Nicky Ajose looks a pacy young player on loan from Man utd. Played at bury last season. I think I read that Hull were interested in signing him.

What about Ian Hume? Surely won't want to play in league 1. Not sure about McSheffrey up front just for the simple reason that he played so well at the top of the diamond.

Im worried AT is going to gamble that Eastwood will find form, we are all desperate for him to but its been seasons of waiting now, its like a threesome, all keen for it to happen, in reality for most it doesnt.

For me, Platt, Eastwood O'Donovan can go. I actually think we will see alot more Jukky next year but we do need someone else

Ian Hume = Good shout for me.

I had Ian Hume as a AMR on Footie Manager 11 and he scored goals by the hat-ful (incl. a hat-trick vs Arsenal - so it's not overly realistic to say the least!) Never-the-less, a good shout and I'd certainly back him.

Personally I think Ian Hume is completely overrated - and he's not even rated that much! Doesn't score very many so would be replacing like for like. Sky blue up north - where have you heard this rumour?

Isn't Hull's new transfer policy to sign anyone in the Man Utd reserves?

I wouldn't go for Ajose yet, was impressive in League 2 but difficult to determine whether that will translate in the championship, we need to sign someone with a good proven record but that's obviously going to be hard to find, glad I don't have the job trying to do so

I have a little more faith in our potential dealings this time around considering he's already identified targets; with Thorn being essentially the scout for Thorn the manager, I'm more confident that we'll be getting in players that will fit well into the style of play he's hoping to cultivate, rather than Thorn recommending players who play a certain way only for a Boothroyd to just knock it long anyway.
