Have you got a similar charr for Wilson since he came to the club as I know from your posts you don't rate him. Can't be selective on results for one but performances gor another.

The truth with Kitching imo is trust from the manager after 3 red cards in quick succession albeit one of them not his fault.

Need a decent sample size and comparator from when he was at the club with another keeper playing in the same team, so.....

Robins clearly has an issue with Kitching imo.

Makes you wonder if something has gone on behind the scenes. I reckon if Lati was fully fit, he'd probably be getting back in to that CB role before Kitching does.

It's been frustrating as I imagine Kitching was initially brought in to give us the aggression and leadership that McFadzean once did

So not included the golden glove season. Very selective. Also conveniently only gone league on this but included cup in the initial comparison as that suits the argument. I'm all for opinions and you're as entitled to yours as I am, but have to be fair with the facts.

Not really, who do I compare him with for the golden glove season? The other goalkeeper that wasn't at the club and wasn't playing behind the same back 3?

I know the geordie funnyman probably embraces the Leamington and Warwick supporters club but it don't mean he's a good goalkeeper.

Even without that, which is clearly selective, you've not included his cup games this season whilst Collins is still at the club or Collins cup records last season.

Your attempt at L&W 'banter' (of which I've not been a member for 5 years) gets funnier every time. Keep going.

Really adds weight to the fact you have an agenda against Wilson and can't even analyse fairly. Quite pathetic really.

I've just searched your posts for the word 'Binks'. Clearly your new figure of hate. To always have to hate on someone you're embarrassing.

Just a flavour from the first couple of pages:

Binks is shite
Binks is atrocious
Binks is a poor defender
Binks fuck off
Binks gets dragged around too much
Can we get Binks out of the side
Kitching in for Binks

Wilson is the only keeper to appear in the cup this season, who am I comparing him with?

Rob, I've made no secret that I do not rate Binks. The statistics back me up. Likewise with Wilson, the statistics back me up.
But they don't. How can you not include his two clean sheets this season even if you want to ignore his 23 in 22/23? Collins was here and availabile for selection. Dovin still yet to keep a clean sheet. This isn't even me having a go at Dovin or saying he's not the better keeper, but the thread is about stats and the stats for Wilson are excellent whatever arguments about who was in front of him. He could be lucky, Binks could be unlucky, but it's the selectiveness to interpret to fit the argument I'm uncomfortable with.

Dovin has played 6 games - will happily do a comparison when he's at 20 or so as equivalent to Wilson.

Agree with this. Binks long diagonals are quality but he’s too slow to play/move the ball a lot of the time. He started the season pretty well on a personal level but we’ve been poor defensively. Kitching is more of an organiser and leader so needs a run next to Thomas to see if we can turn things around

It’s strange that we’ve been crying out for leadership on the pitch but Robins has left a former captain on the bench, guessing more to it
Even if it's Robin's choice as well to be considered?

I do actually like Binks and he's got the foundations to develop into a very good CB, but he desperately lacks some core fundamentals for some bizarre reason.

His all-round defensive ability just isn't good enough to cope in a back 4.

Kitching I've got doubts about. His concentration at times is appalling but for the time being he's the better defender so probably needs to be brought back into the fold.

A part of me thinks that Binks is in the team for his range of passing because we’re missing that in midfield. His left to right diagonals are really good.

Defensively, I do think he’s soft compared to Kitching and the amount of goals we concede with him in the team atm is concerning. Against Watford we looked assured when Kitching and Thomas played and they’ve kept the only CS we had this season.
I was really impressed with some of Binks passes on saturday

To be honest, the eye test with Wilson is enough to overcome any statistic.

Don’t rate Wilson but he has at least shown he can be a part of a competent defence. Dovin is showing very little atm, beaten at his near post again on Saturday

Given the back 4 is the same it'll be Wilson of last season & this season v Dovin of this. Albeit in the early part of the season Fadz was in the team.
The majority of Wilsons appearances would have been with 5 atb also last season?
And doesn't account for the defence either improving or getting worse from season to season?

There was a clear deflection that took it past Dovin.
Can't really say he's been at fault for any goals we've conceded.

And I'm sure we'd be far better at the back with Kitching in there.

For the amount of money Kitching cost, the fact he is on the bench is a crime in itself.

One of our biggest problems is conceding silly goals. If he is supposed to be a stand out player, and a leader, he should be playing.

Unsure where I fully stand on Kitching. There's clearly potential but there also seems a lot of drama around him and he gets involved in a lot of incidents. I do wonder if that's where he maybe doesn't fit into the mould of a player Robins likes ?

But equally there's a part of me that likes that he stands up for the cause and isn't afraid to leave one on a player. Off the ball he does seem to wind the opposition up. Compared to say Bink's I also like how he is willing to run with the ball and drive it forwards on the attack. Our other defenders seem to just repeatedly stand stationary and pass sideways.

Carry on with your logic and there is no point comparing players at all as there will always be variables? Maybe worth looking at their individual stats? I can't upload the screen shots but Collins is the best of the 3 overall.

We’re 6 games in, not every bad result needs to precipitate massive changes.

I personally wouldn’t have started the same team v Swansea. However, the logic was sound because the performance against Spurs was admirable. If anything, an unchanged team from Watford away would’ve made more sense - only Wright in for Lati.

Just my opinion but I prefer Kitching to Binks….I like the way he can carry the ball himself now and again and create uncertainty in the opposing ranks.
Also I really am not sure what Dovin offers over Wilson right now. He looks like a poor mans Pickford and I don’t really rate him either 🤔

and he's one of the only players on the pitch who shows he has a bit of arsehole about him. him and now bassette. if he's actually been left out cause robins has some kind of issue with him its ridiculous

Kitching did start the season suspended and his form dropped off toward the end of last season and Binks did deserve a run in the team.

I sometimes wonder if Binks would be better as a holding/defensive midfielder in front of the back line.

It’s just a thought and we will never know unless MR tries him in that role.
Not sure really don't know if he's tried there before but I have a recollection of spurs maybe using him that way, unless it was Winks I'm confused with?

Yeh i dont dispute that and i don't think it was neccesarily the wrong decision to give him a shot. If it's that alone, it's time to change back. If it's more than that and there's some kind of beef - its ridiculous and cutting your nose of to spite your face (robins)

Not really sure what to make of Dovin yet either. None of the goals he's conceded have been particularly bad on his part, but equally he hasn't yet made a 'wow' save either. He doesn't seem to be very vocal in organising the defence in front of him, which I guess is understandable given his age, and not really seen much of him distributing the ball quickly in transition from defence to attack. For all that I can't see him being dropped given our investment in him, certainly until he makes a proper howler or two. Leeds could be a real test as I imagine if we are to get a result there our keeper will need to have a good game.

One thing is for certain in my mind and that is we don't have enough defenders with cover to start playing a back 5. We barely have enough for a back 4. Competition for LCB is good between Binks and Kitching, but we are lacking decent competition for Thomas as RCB and only have Lati spare. Only 3 recognised full back / wing backs too in MVE, Bidwell and JDS

He’s been left to dry by his teammates for the most part, but it also takes time for a keeper to forge an understanding with his defence. Which isn’t helped when the manager keeps changing it.

I would prefer Kitching instead of Binks personally.
