Good player when he has others around on the same wavelength, when him, Armstrong , Maddison and Murphy were playing together we were buzzing . All the best to him with a progressive club

Too lightweight and only showed glimpses of talent but nowhere near enough and then didn't get get enough games as time went on. Happy to let go. Good luck to him though

Exactly, Millwall away 2nd game of season under Mowbray we destroyed them 4.1. So quick to break.

Ruben you mad bastard Plymouth is a shithole. A Coventry by the sea if you will. You know how to pick em.
I'm sure he won't live in Plymouth, 20 miles from some amazing places down there. Unlike the shit hole coventry surrounded by even more shithole towns.

Trouble is some on here want 11 players built like big rugby players hoof merchants get the ball forward and hope . I think they might be surprised at division 2 if they think that . It isn't all kick and rush.

Corrected there for you slightly.

It was when he was in the team with O'Brien, Maddison, and Armstong we were at out best. It was when Murphy played instead of them later in the season that we started to struggle.

Those opening games were immense though.

1 you didn't need to get involved
2 if you don't like Coventry then stay out of it.
It's my city and I'll challenge anybody who slags it off and that includes you

Popped on here to find out a bit more about our latest signing and I'm not surprised to see most of you think he's a bit shite

Derek Adams seems to have a habit of signing players that are written off by their former club's fans when they join us. Pompey fans told us Sonny Bradley was one of the worst centre-backs they'd ever had when we signed him, yet he went on to win promotion, become our player of the year and be named in the PFA team of the year. Meanwhile, our own fans wrote off Graham Carey when he joined (after being released by St Mirren), yet he's going to go down as one of our greatest ever players and will almost certainly be leaving us shortly :sorry:

I think the lesson here is a mixture of, a) us fans not really having a clue and b) some players needing a certain type of manager/club to thrive.

Ruben sounds like he's got a smidgen of technical ability but needs toughening up and a rocket up his arse to make him more consistent. Sound right? If that's the case then he's come to the right club, because Adams will bomb him out if he thinks he isn't putting a shift in.

All the best for next season and your attempt to come straight back up - Coventry are far too big a club to be in that shitehole of a division. Those Sisu pricks have got a lot to answer for.

Genuine question, having not lived there for 12 years, what is it you like so much?

It gets a bad press it doesn't deserve.
Love the people, loads of friends. Always have a great laugh.
Good as place as most in the UK to raise your family.
Great location, lots of other great places in easy reach.
Work wise it's better than a lot of places.
Home of CCFC!!

City centre is appalling, probably the root cause of a lot of the bad press the city gets, it really needs sorting out.

If you can get him doing what he does well 1 in 2, even 1 in 3 games then you've got a player.
Unfortunately for us he probably showed 1 in 10/ 1in 12.

Got some technical ability but the body and athletic ability of a 12 year old......and for that reason I'm out

Ruben isn't shite, I think he just needs games with the right players.

Considering he is usually the smallest player on the pitch, last season he was one of very few that didn't back down when he played. That probably says more about our team though!

If he plays behind players willing to make runs he'll find them and unlock a teams defence. Hope he does well for you and best of luck next season.

The city centre is atrocious. Got to be up there with some of the worst in the UK, mind you there is some competition...

Earsldon is really good, particularly the drinking culture. Don't think I will be living here much longer though...

Thanks for the kind words.
Rueben was one of those players who was loved and disliked in equal measure by fans. Personally I think that he's a very good player and will flourish if he has players showing a bit of movement in front of him. He'll put players through with balls that no one else can see. Watch out for his reverse passes as they are superb.
I really think he'd be better in a higher league where he'll get more protection from referee's as he is pretty small and lightweight.
I for one am sorry he's gone, but I hope that he does well for you.

I never understand the better league comments - would Messi struggle in league one - higher leagues are harder and more physical.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Sounds like he's a divisive type, though what player isn't at this level? I once heard an Arsenal fan at Highbury call Dennis Bergkamp a "useless c*nt", and from that moment on decided I would always take supporter opinions with a pinch of salt

I'll report back to let you know how Ruben gets on (if anyone's interested).

Agree with this. Of course there are residential areas that are nice, Finham, Earlsdon, Stivichall, etc. But the town centre is such a dive and that is really what many Cities are judged by
