Lampard Issue? (2 Viewers)

I’ll be honest why go from MR > JE , that’s just crazy. Whilst don’t want Lampard you can see elements he may bring (albeit huge risk)

just hope whoever it is - we’ve done a detailed process as they have got one hell of act to follow.
Sounds like we are doing our research as apparent we’ve just finished second interviews.

I get what you mean although I guess now we can’t view it as Robins for X as that’s a downgrade who ever it is (realistically).

For me, while I think Lampard has some decent accolades and I don’t think he’s as bad as made out, I worry about style over substance. It’s why I’d look at good young managers in the championship and league one which I think John fits. Alongside Evatt, Selles, Rohl and Skubala.

Totally agree on those - rohl for example - excellent. No chance buying him out!

Still feel there’s an element of flattery from a lot of fans that a “name” would choose us. Lampard clearly desperate for another chance and unsurprisingly the stumbling block may be personal terms/level of control.
What we need by the sound of things is some stability. We are not a bad squad at all . Eustace will bring fresh championship experience at a club that still has high expectations . He will know all about the teams we will face and how they set up and the week in week out demands of this league.

I’m quietly confident that either option would see us kick on

Managers under contract don’t come to be part of a short list … they only come for an interview if they are nailed on for the job. If they are unsuccessful in the interview they have also burnt their bridges at their existing club

Yep to all of this.
Was one of the many reasons I was surprised to see on here last week that Robibs had been interviewed for - and failed to get - the manager’s position at Stoke in 2022

They probably don’t care though, Eustace has got a two and half year contract

Is that you saying it's all over the SM, formerly known as Twitter, or are you saying you have just broken up with COVKIDSNEVERQUIT?

I think FL is as good as we are likely to get, but the problem is he's got big shoes to fill as MR was so popular.

I fear the knives will be out for him before he's even started.

With Lampard you have to ask why has no club been in for him in the last year he’s been out of work

100% - there’s certainly a section of fans that look at his record at Everton, his 2nd Chelsea spell and decided he’s not up to it.

In reality, this is a ‘step down’ for Lampard because we’re in the Championship. Personally, I think this could be a mutually beneficial hire, he’s a young coach with a lot of experience at a high level with a good track record of developing players. That could be huge for us and because we’re supposedly an ambitious club now, we’ll give him the resources needed. If he succeeds, he restores his reputation as one of our country’s best young coaches.

You have to ask why he’s willing to step down as you say, and why step down to us.

Sunderland, Burnley, Sheffield United, West Brom, Norwich have all looked for managers since he’s been out of work and none of them have gone for him.

This is where maybe delaying it till after Sheffield is a clever play.

It’s not Franks fault and he shouldn’t be judge for the owners decision

Well my take on it is, it will be announced after the Burnley game on the Wednesday.

Gives him two games to assess the team for the Cardiff game at home.

It’s never a clever play. Why would we not want the new manager managing games? If it’s to protect him already that’s worrying
Depends when it was done but if he was appointed today like the rumours, what value would tomorrow be for him. If he wins, he wouldn’t get credit as just got into role and if he lost, he’ll get the blame

Gets to take charge of the team on a match day, start implementing some ideas, sees how the players respond to him coming in.

if the negatives are “he could get the blame for a loss” or “it negatively affects his win percentage” there’s no reason for him not to

Load of bollocks 😂 you don’t bring somebody in and just give them a game the next day, and see how it goes 😂

If you engage your brain you’d see the rumour is that it’s been Lampards for some time, at least since the start of this week so it’s not the next day is it you gimp

Negative would be he’s just been employed for 24 hours hasn’t met the squad and haven’t been able to access. Don’t care so much about win rate but think it’s important that it gets off to the right foot. That would spell disaster for any manager
