He made two very good saves prior, that I think it’s a blind confidence boost that caused him to try and be a hero at the end.
In 5 of those 6 games we looked hopeless and the players were openly arguing with each other. Remember Swansea having vast swathes of the pitch to run into unopposed? It was grim. This is a big thing people aren't giving Lampard enough credit for imo. People were genuinely starting to say they weren't enjoying going to the CBS anymore, you can find plenty of comments on here if you can be arsed. Our home form under Robins had become really concerning.
As it stands the crowd is once again engaged and I would think season ticket sales will once again go up in the summer.
I suspect we’ll be fine doing it against Boro and we know we are if we get through and play Sunderland. In general though I agree. There's definitely a blueprint some teams are using for how to play against us.
Yes we might look confident knocking the ball about but teams are happy to let us do it and wait for their chance.
That's the frustration. Without that mistake, he walks out head high and full of confidence. That save in the second half is one of the best I've ever seen from a Coventry keeper.
We need to master more than one system. There’s good reasons why we have only got one way of playing right now and it’s because we had to get out of a rut and sort out the home form first and foremost.
Over the summer the work needs to go in to learning a second set up, that we can use on the road or against ‘low block’ teams.
To clarify, when you say system, do you mean formation?
Something Robins said after Sheff W (iirc - it was after a home loss) that stuck with me about this team was that they took too many ‘easy routes’ on the ball.
Things have generally improved under Lampard, but Plymouth and Hull were recent examples where we just too happy having possession and recycling it, without testing them with a shot or cross to deal with.
In Rugby, there was always the old adage of coming away with points when you’re in the final third of the opposition. For us, it needs to be something like, if we’re in the final third, we need either get the ball in the box or to get a shot off. Too often we get to the final third to just pass it backwards without testing the defence or opposition GK.

Playing a high line away against a team desperate for a win was always a risk and ultimately what lead to the red and a couple of the Plymouth goals.
.The high line didn’t cause a goal for any of the goals v Plymouth. It was … MVE giving the ball away high up the pitch
Really depressing performances. In 5 of those 6 games we looked hopeless and the players were openly arguing with each other. Remember Swansea having vast swathes of the pitch to run into unopposed? It was grim.
What Vik O’Hare and Hamer all had was directness, Rudoni has improved, Wright is hit and miss, other than that we lack players who pick it up and want to get towards goal or players who pick it up and want to ping a pass to release someone.
Lose on Saturday and I think the reaction from the fans will be interesting.
I genuinely think some will go into meltdown.
Haji and Simms, there hasn’t been a consistent supply of high quality chances for a while now.
Haji should’ve scored v Hull and Plymouth but looking at that 22/23 side, the amount of ‘big chances’ Vik missed, he had 2-3 times in a game to redeem himself.
Rudoni is the player most willing to take on players and it’s disappointing that Sakamoto and at times, EMC, that willingness to take on players could be a lot better!
In terms of game changers, I want us to be able to bring on 2 wingers next season who can keep us being a constant threat.
It’s not the same thing and you know it. The inference was that the defensive high line was being exploited.
If a defender gives the ball away on the halfway line, you’re going to be in trouble in most cases.
Unless I missed something, Luton's winner came about because Collins completely lost his head, ran out of his goal, and clattered his defender. So the only goal in the game came about from his incompetence.
Yes, we got bullied. Yes Luton looked better than us for large parts of the game. But it was that single act that led to the goal that cost us the game.
I can't see any reason to defend the bloke or put it on anyone else, except perhaps Lampard. With anyone else in goal, that doesn't happen; it's a critical individual error, and it's not his first.
That’s why Torp is a big lossWhat Vik O’Hare and Hamer all had was directness, Rudoni has improved, Wright is hit and miss, other than that we lack players who pick it up and want to get towards goal or players who pick it up and want to ping a pass to release someone.

Despite having a relatively poor 5 or 6 weeks and the ongoing keeper debacle I still consider it to have been a succesful season whatever happens from now.

I mean how we’re using the ball as much as I mean the shape. To clarify, when you say system, do you mean formation?

It’s like the Simms last season argument tho. Statistically you’ve got two very different populations. That ten game run isn’t really representative. You’ve got a streak of 90% win rate then a streak of 30% win rate. And the 30% streak is twice as long.
Plymouth got behind us a lot that game.
Opening goal another list of the victims of bringing everyone back for corners.Correct, but did it lead to a goal? No.
When taking the Plymouth game into account, it was definitely a game where the individual errors were more costly than the tactics.
It all goes out the window when you go 1-0 down too because you need to attack more.
Then why extend Wilson’s contract? Makes no sense. On that note, it’s weirdly ironic that Lampard’s decision to extend the contracts of players (ie Eccles and Bidwell) suddenly makes them worse than before. Maybe that’s why Wilson isn’t playing? Who knows.Clearly Lampard has zero confidence in Wilson to play the way he wants us to, and sees the risk of completely upsetting our tactics during a four-game playoff run as greater than the risk of Collins fucking something up in any given game. It’s just a shame that both those risks seem unreasonably high at the moment, but we have no good options here.
It’s only away from home in the last few games. The hope record has been consistently good
It does make sense, he signed as 3rd choice, a known quantity and a positive influence someone who isn't going to rock the boat if he is not playing. Then why extend Wilson’s contract? Makes no sense. Those wins you mentioned were a long time ago (bar WBA who are having a bigger implosion than us at the moment) and with Dovin in goal and a settled line up. Morale was up and momentum was on our side. Fast forward a month and we have a clown in goal, a donkey up front, a team that’s lost key players to injuries/suspension. I’m honestly not very confident now. I’m afraid the bar is so low with Collins that he will find new and more embarrassing ways to sink us.We’ve dropped points in 4 home league games; Cardiff, Millwall, Leeds and Burnley.
Looking at the games we’ve won; Watford, Bristol City, Sunderland, WBA, QPR who were all in and around us when we beat them shows just how much we deserve to be where we are. We’ve won every 6 pointer at home and compare that to last season, is fantastic. If we finish 5th or 6th, I’m confident we can beat Sheff U or Sunderland at home.
We are v close to being a comfortable Top 4 Championship team. A bit more quality and depth, which we’ve gradually added, and some tactical tweaks and we’re there!

I bet the Luton forum was very much the same before yesterday's game and so was Plymouth's prior to last Monday's debacle.Go on the Boro forum. They are expecting a battering
