Thought this about BTA yesterday.
I know he's not great but he seemed to show more aggression than Simms.

Simms doesn’t use his size so he’s not much of a nuisance. I’ve seen BTA buzz around the right areas and harrying when he’s on, first touch lacking the same but not as bad. Get him on.

BTA’s main issue is his finishing, he does otherwise put himself about. Agree, worth starting

Yeah, exactly that. I don't rate him much at all and I trust Simms to be more of the goal getter than BTA, but I think BTA is far more aggressive and will probably make much more of a nuisance of himself.

The level of Lampard's managerial abilities will only be evident next season in my opinion especially if we remain in the Championship. He's not had a pre season to shape his own squad having to utilise some substandard players brought in by the previous regime.
He will stand or fall by it.

Those wins you mentioned were a long time ago (bar WBA who are having a bigger implosion than us at the moment) and with Dovin in goal and a settled line up. Morale was up and momentum was on our side. Fast forward a month and we have a clown in goal, a donkey up front, a team that’s lost key players to injuries/suspension. I’m honestly not very confident now. I’m afraid the bar is so low with Collins that he will find new and more embarrassing ways to sink us.

In our last 3 home games, we have won against Sunderland, Pompey and WBA. We’re not imploding at all. The only ‘gimme’ was supposed to be Pompey who gave us the most difficult game because they set out for, and were happy with, a draw.

Boro need to beat us and we need to win to ensure we make the playoffs. On the day, if results go our way, a draw will suffice.

Just about every team in this division has a stronger home record than their away record.

I'm not a great fan of BTA but I would be tempted to start him as well. If Bassette was fit I might even have preferred him to Simms. Other possibilities if we are to drop Simms and presuming EMC is not available would be to put Haji up front and bring in Paterson, or even move Rudoni on the left and bring in Eccles as an extra body in midfield.

At this moment in time and presuming MVE & Thomas are fit & EMC isn't my team would be:
Wilson
Van Ewijk Thomas Kitching Bidwell
Sheaf Rudoni Grimes
Sakamoto Thomas-Asante Wright

Haji and Simms, there hasn’t been a consistent supply of high quality chances for a while now.

Haji should’ve scored v Hull and Plymouth but looking at that 22/23 side, the amount of ‘big chances’ Vik missed, he had 2-3 times in a game to redeem himself.

Rudoni is the player most willing to take on players and it’s disappointing that Sakamoto and at times, EMC, that willingness to take on players could be a lot better!

In terms of game changers, I want us to be able to bring on 2 wingers next season who can keep us being a constant threat.
One difference with Vik is that he would create chances for himself out of nothing. Simms is never going to do this, unfortunately.

Comes down to moments in games , unfortunately Collins had a good game on Saturday up until his decision making let him down badly ., should never of been coming for that ball . JDS got caught to high up and paid for it even though it was the slightest of connections , and I believe it was going wider than a clear cut chance . Big moments make or break seasons Simms for me is yet to have one. starting to doubt his starting place credentials . I liked the fact that frank kept two up top on , and didn’t go too defence minded I think if Collins hadn’t of rushed out we were going to score on the break

He scored 19 goals last season and turned up in a big way back in Feb. I wouldn’t give up on him having a good season next year.

His control lets him down for me , we needed an out ball all game on Saturday his first touch isn’t good enough

This is my issue. Haji is the same but at least scores. We cannot relieve pressure at all because neither of our strikers have basic ball control. Like Y8 team level basic. I don’t think I’ve seen City players with worst first touches than Simms and Wright.

Obviously dont remember much from previous years gone by, we’ve had plenty of dross that are worse

They've got Simms trying to play a light touch square or back to a teammate rather than trapping the ball. Dion Dublin used to do that a good deal of the time.
