Because the reality is that you really need to pay Haji Wright fees at least to get players of that quality
Yeah but the reality is we paid for quantity rather than quality.
And some of that quantity wasn't cheap either.

I honestly think his horrendous first half is making his slightly improved second half appear a lot better than it was. The way some people are going on is as if he had a storming solo striker performance against a very good team. He did a couple of good things, but was generally a very easy player to play against for the Leeds defenders for the most part.
You seem to be forgetting the total team performance in the first half. Hard for a striker to look impressive given they barely get the ball. Personally i think he did very well but clearly you dont.

Dan James had a massive chance that was saved, yes. That was it other than the goals and at that point we were already 2-0 down and chasing the game. They were constantly a threat but we’d limited them to long range chances.

The sloppiness of the goals we conceded was really disappointing and made a difficult game almost insurmountable.

Yet not surprising. The defence has improved since FL has come in but there are still obvious frailties which need addressing in the summer.

Even over the last 4/5 games I don't think our backline has performed that great and has conceded chances which a better side 100% would've penalised us for or if Dovin wasn't between the sticks.

Just watched it back - that’s not what happened. This is where Latibeaudiere stops his run. Dovin could and should have claimed the ball at this point but didn’t. He had a great game in the second half but this was a huge cock-up on his part.

It’s clearly a horror moment for Dovin - these things occasionally happen I guess. Lati in his attempt to shield the advancing player was pretty pathetic as well - especially as he then walked past him to score

Dovin is class but got caught out for the second goal. Grimes hit a superb corner which nearly got us a goal back. If he can consistently take corners like that, we have a new string to our bow
Lol I really must improve my comprehension, read that as nearly won us a goal kick.🫣

It looks as if Dovin thinks Lati was going to clear it.

Fundamentally someone needs to call for it. Lati running in like that was honestly mindless though. Bogle wasn't even going to get to the ball.

In a game where it is necessary for the front players to hold the ball up to get some relief from all the Leeds possession in the first half both of ours failed miserably. Simms was better in the second half . I think that EMC & Wright will add a hell of a lot more.
I'm really looking forward to both returning

The main problem was Dovin’s Achilles heel of not communicating with his defence.

I agree. The whole team performance in the first half was awful. I am just not following the narrative that Simms played well.

Dovin 7

Poor for goals conceded, particularly the second. A few great stops to make up for them. Still question his astuteness to read the play; their keeper on a couple of occasions had the presence of mind to bowl out to feet quickly and create a counter, whereas Dovin often dwells and misses the opportunity or distributes in such a way short to defenders which invites the press.

MVE 7

Don’t get the bad scores for him, gets up and down and races back to cover. He was up against Prem class wide attackers and did reasonably well. His throw ins are being utilised at least.

Bidwell 6

Dogged, but struggled to cover an attack which was fluid and enterprising. Could do with being more creating with throwing.

Kitching 7

Got forward well but that left gaps at the back. Unlucky with hitting the bar.

Thomas 6

Big clogger type player playing his game. Lost the ball a bit too often couldn’t see two steps ahead.

Lati 6

Defebsuve mix ups and just not 100% on his game

Allen 6

Not as good as of late. Surprised he wasn’t subbed on 45

Torp 6

Mixed bag. He might be the best striker of the ball outside of the box. Not sure then why he’s on corners, he’d be better sitting and waiting for the out ball on just outside the box for a shot. Maybe that changes with Grimes in the team.

Rudoni 6

Tried, cut inside well from wide, but was up against a well drilled defence.

BTA 5

Hold up play was awful and often lost the ball. Hope we didn’t turn down more than 1.5 to 2m for him because when EMC and Haji are back, Bassette matures a little bit and the style of play changes with Grimes in the team and Sheaf back then BTA goes right down the pecking order.

Sims 7

I thought he did well leading the line. Got stuck in. I’d like to see him playing at the tip of the spear with EMC / Wright advanced left and Tats / Bassette playing off him right.

Subs

Grimes looked the part. The others n/a.
