Yeah well it would bring control to the streets, bet you’d cry if they used water cannonsYou’re thinking army are you and riot police ok
Let’s see what happens eh
Wouldn’t give a toss but it would escalate itYeah well it would bring control to the streets, bet you’d cry if they used water cannons
Alright then let’s just turn a blind eye and let it escalate regardlessWouldn’t give a toss but it would escalate it
Dave is right there’s proabjky a 1000 rioters and 100 police what do you want them to do
It’s not grand theft matey
Who’s turning a blind eye ffsAlright then let’s just turn a blind eye and let it escalate regardless
You want them to get round a table, maybe have a cuppa and some biscuits and discuss what’s going on instead of actually doing anythingWho’s turning a blind eye ffs
Maybe the community can be forced to pay for extra police then? Not sure about the 'if it was football fans' stuff. Football games are scheduled so that police from all around the area can be present in numbers, especially if games are classed as 'risk'. This is mainly covered by working overtime and the bill is footed by the home club.
The reality is that in a situation like this there simply isn't the numbers and there's not really the capacity to quickly bring people in from neighbouring forces.
Can't remember the figures but I someone a while back stated how many police were on duty in Cov on a Friday and Saturday night and it was shockingly low. Any real trouble and at best they're looking at trying to contain it and waiting for it to run its course.
Don't think anyone has suggested turning a blind eye. The police know they're under resourced and fucked in a situation like this. They will have a plan which I would imagine involves using their limited resources to try and stop trouble spreading to other parts of the cityAlright then let’s just turn a blind eye and let it escalate regardless
Pretty much lawless then.Don't think anyone has suggested turning a blind eye. The police know they're under resourced and fucked in a situation like this. They will have a plan which I would imagine involves using their limited resources to try and stop trouble spreading to other parts of the city
we do, police funding is part of council tax. I'm sure if the council said that the cost was doubling or more due to the cuts in funding from central government 'the community' would be far from happyMaybe the community can be forced to pay for extra police then?
Water cannons would have been perfect, or like the German police do move in and disperseDon't think anyone has suggested turning a blind eye. well yes, that's what tends to happen with riots. when do you remember a riot occurring and thousand of police were sent in within hours of it happening.Pretty much lawless then.
Not licensed for use in the UK, think it was last considered when May was Home Secretary and she quickly squashed it.Water cannons would have been perfect, or like the German police do move in and disperse

Might have happened but Southampton beat themI'll bet this is one the Kaiser Chiefs never predicted.
Are you sure the people speaking out about this aren't acting a bit like Hitler?
kristallnacht? Are you sure the people speaking out about this aren't acting a bit like Hitler?
Everyone with mobile phones, uploading video to social media are doing the police's job for them.
It's going to be so easy to identify those involved off that footage.
100%. That sort of behaviour just can't go unpunished. There's a lad booting the car caught clear as day. Hopefully a prison sentence awaits.

brave man and he’s absolutelyTop man
I just read the BBC article on it. They honestly think we are stupid. It's very weird.Notice how Sky News and the likes have turned comments off on posts about this?
What a dangerous day we live in.
Top man
This the same guy that's blaming a language barrier and saying the police should speak Urdu?Nope I want them to mobilise

Did more to stop this riot than the police and the far right put together so yeah, on this topic, in this thread, top man. Very brave.
How many times do we have to explain the same thing. Actual media outlets, as opposed to randoms on social media, don’t report things as fact if all they’ve got to go on is what someone has posted on twitter.I just read the BBC article on it. They honestly think we are stupid. It's very weird.
Pathetic.
